CHRIST! They get forward now! Arbeloa's pull-back for Babel, from deep in the box....Finnan was even offside once.

I'm not a GH basher, but bejaysus, you wouldn't have seen that in his day.

Agger. A CB with a shot from hell on him, which the crowd don't have to fear a la Cisse

Is it me or does Arebola alway seems to be the first to celebrate a goal with the scorer...Always in the thick of things...

To be fair to GH (I'm not a fan of his), I think his initial idea was to get the team playing with the tucked in midfield, with width coming from the full backs. Hence the acquisitions of Ziege and Babbel.

They were immense today. Both made awesome runes, Arbeloa made the second goal. Finnan just carved them up on the right

They're a pair of bloody warlocks, innit?

He was only beaten to the scorer once today - by Benayoun! :D

What was funniest for me was when Voronin scored, he ran straight in front of me and the nipper, yelling his head off in Ukrainian, finishing off with 'Fecking Yes for zer Kop!' :D

Babbel was an awesome player, and he got forward a lot from the right back position. A clear favorite of mine back then. I dare say, Arbeloa reminds me a bit of Babbel at times.

The man is fast becoming a personal hero of mine! :)

The team that started the 03/04 season was as attacking and gungho as any liverpool side I've seen. He never did seem to get the balance between good attack and good defence properly ironed out though. Rafa has shown how to keep a high line of defence and still remain watertight though.

first time he picked that was a midweek game at home - might have been spurs I think?

I remember getting to the top of the steps and a steward shouting at me, "feck me have you heard the team, I think ged's lost it!"

it wasnt the first game of the season, and it was like he'd just thought sod it, people are calling us boring I'll show the feckers.

we created loads of chances but think we drew? but then my memory's garbage so no idea.

it was 2-2 v Birmingham

just checked onthe offish and it was spurs 0-0 27august03. we'd already lost 2-1 to chelsea at home, then a bore draw at villa. hence ged's sudden desire to attack i guess.

it didnt last long though, which was a shame as we created enough to score 6 i'm sure.

anyway, back to the full-backs......awesome.
