Just seen in the paper that we are supposed to be playing p'boro away on 21st July, and I thought we were away at training camp then?

Aren't we going away a day or so after?. Barry Fry has said that Liverpool have told him we will be sending a strong team, not all unknowns, but, there has been mention around the city that some legends may play. It is a testimonial for the Posh goalkeeper, not a full on friendly, but I'm going anyway.

The Moyes end.

That should be interesting.

Old school all standing, stand too I believe, doubt if we'll need a rolled up copy of the Peterborough ET though. :)

that and the fact you'd get some strange looks after you asked to put a half drank pint and a half drank coke in fridge until after the game had finished.:unsure:

Even more so when the coke would be for me and the beer for the 14-year-old lad

Peterborough ET (Local Rag) has confirmed that there was a load of trouble after the Celtic match on Friday and one Celtic fan was badly injured after being glassed/bottled. POSH has been in trouble with the league quite a bit lately, during the last home game of the season, there were several pitch invasions, during one an opposing player was punched and knocked to the floor. Playing yer greatest rivals in the league etc is one thing I suppose, but during a friendly, bloody hell!!!!.

There's nothing else to do in Peterborough though...

Well a day of firsts. Never seen a game from the away end at Peterborough before, wasn't much different, and I'd never seen a lot of our youngsters before, was quiet impressed, held there own and did alright, though can't say it was a blinding game. Thought the Liverpool fans out sung the home support and gave a good clap and cheer at the end for the posh keeper who's tesimonial it was. Certain players did very well I thought though i couldn't buy a program anywhere so not gonna start banding out names as I can't be totally sure just yet who was who.

Any one else go?

It was perhaps fitting that Mark Tyler, the Peterborough United keeper for whom this testimonial was arranged, kept a clean sheet as a second string Liverpool side drew 0-0 in today’s friendly.

With most of the Liverpool first team in Hong Kong preparing for the Barclays Asia trophy, Gary Ablett took charge of some of Liverpool’s new youngsters, and a handful of players who have moved from the Academy to Melwood this summer.

Over 9,000 fans turned up at London Road to witness the reds take on the Posh - managed by the Old Trafford manager’s son - Darren Ferguson.

Krisztian Nemeth and Andras Simon, Liverpool’s two new Hungarian imports both played a part - as did Besian Idrizaj - the hat-trick hero from the Wrexham game.

However, the game was devoid of any real sparkle - and the biggest cheer of the day was for Mark Tyler who has so far made over 450 appearances for Peterborough in a 13 year spell.

Team

Liverpool – Hansen, Peltier, Smith, Roque, Huth, Spearing, Flynn (Crowther 66), Le Tallec, Lindfield (Nemeth 46), Idrizaj (Brouwer 73), Putterill (Simon 59). Subs not used – Oldfield, Kelly.

Le Tallec was out there???? f*** me, you'd never have known

Thought Nemeth looked good, and Jordy too when he came on

I thought all the lads up front looked pretty good, but Roque and Hansen had good games. Le Tallec?. Are they sure?.

Le Tallec played... didn't you hear the guy on the tannoy before the match building him up as big star in team, played 32 first team games, french star, blah blah... it was f*cking hilarious.

We arrived about 10 mins late, parked a bit further away than we thought we had.

Cringeworthy it was.

If you didn't know which one Le Tallec was, you certainly wouldn't have known afterwards. Awful.

Got bored and left about half 4.

Did you guys travel all the way down from Liverpool? Thought it was good to see the Hungarian lads etc at last, usually only hear of them on line, stood up quite well to a mans team from the lower leagues who took it a bit more seriously and used it as a proper preseason match. They really should have let Tyler take the pen too.
