I think this is good news. A step in the right direction. Think it's high time that alcohol sponorship was kicked out of football all together.

I don't need reminders to drink.

I will regret the second bottle of St Hallett Old Block in the morning

Just don't think it has a place in a sport that children follow so ardently. Would you want tobacco companies back involved in sport again?

tbh, I thought liverbird04's "why?" was a wind up.........either that or he/she's just turned 12.

While I'll agree with the sentiment, personally, I just don't think it has the effect that people think it has. Certainly growing up with my friends we never smoked or drinked for the sake of what was being advertised. We was never rich enough to smoke Bensons... Lambert and butler all the way

If it didn't work, they wouldn't do it.

bit tongue in cheek ,just interested in the reasoning ,smoking I can understand , it will go into someone else lungs. Where has the pressing need for banning alcohol advertising come from?

I've an 8 year old son with 2 Liverpool shirts and TBH I'd rather he wasn't running around advertising alcohol. Just doesn't seem right on a kid's shirt. Having said that, its probably better than online gambling.

Not sure it's better, but would like to see the online gambling sponsors banned as well.

given we're in american hands and raising our profile stateside, i suspect our owners would be keen to maximise our earning potential from sponsorship. i'd say we're likely to attract big bucks from a company with wider global recognition.

Thats fair enough. I live in the US and I feel that some day I will be harrangued by someone for letting my child advertise drink. As online gambling is actually illegal here, its just as well he's not a Spurs fan.... :D

Whoever they are I hope their logo looks good. The United shirt this season with AIG was vile.

Well if we are going to take such a harsh stance on advertising because of kids, should we really advertise soft drinks also? considering the increasing statistics that fizzy drinks are almost as bad as alcohol?

Just for arguments sakes.

P.S I am not a big drinker myself.

As kids replica shirts with alchohol advertsisng on are to be banned from next season - this was always likely even before T&G took over - but i think Herb has it right - they will have lined up a major world recognised brand to replace carlsberg, and probably at a world reocrd fee or damn near it.

Aye. How about a good old honest Oil company.
