I always thought he was a good player, but I keep hearing he was one of the toughest/hardest as well - wasn't aware of that, TBH.

So what are the Mick Harford anecdotes? Stories of him wrestling grizzly bears, etc.

steve foster the dirty t*** and his f***ing head band.

i remember being in the kop at some point in the mid 80's and i think the chant was 'f*** off foster, f*** off foster' for 90 minutes.

Everyone hated f*cking Luton in those days. That TV presenter b*stard Nick Owen supported them. Some Tory MP was their chairman.

Remember when they didn't turn up for that Cup replay?

Tw*ts they were.

And f*cking got away with it!

Remember Nick Owen interviewing Kenny Dalglish? I think Dalglish was close to smacking him one.

I agree with the Luton thing but the Luton team that came to Anfield in 1983 (?) with Paul Walsh, Ricky Hill and Brian Stein was a very good and entertaining team. They drew 3-3 at Anfield and it was a cracking game in the sunshine. What went wrong?

didn't he once batter vinnie jones when they were at wimbledon? or did i dream it. . .

Thought that was Lawrie Sanchez who battered Jones, whose bark is bigger than the bite.

Hartford was proper hard though. Ask any ex pro.

That's right. They tried to ban all away supporters.

I always remember John Inverdale on Radio 2 (equivalent to today's Radio 5) at the end of one season saying accidentally/on purpose "and I'm sure all neutrals will be hoping that Luton go down". And they did!

The hardest man in football was Mick Harford. According to Vinnie Jones, he was the only one never to do the Crazy Gang initiation as everyone was scared of him.

I remember that prick playing for Brighton hacking Kenny in front of the old Kemlyn and the away section Kenny jumping up all 5"7' of him and the big s***house backing off

Sanchez got a proper kicking from John Fashanu...i know that....but kept getting back up and tried to fight on....won everyones respect as no-one else would dare take fashanu on at the time.
