Watch the referee's performance against Middlesbrough.

I thought it was a pen tbh and Woodgate didn't need to dive in........but the ref's treatment of Rooney was downright disgraceful. Rooney committed at least 4 yellow card offences, but got just 1 card. The ref completely bottled it at the end there.

no way was that a pen.

Rooney hacking that bloke at the end should have been a booking at the least.

Then Ronaldo gets a similar hack done to him and the little fat c*** is straight over moaning about it.

And James Morrison gets sent off I bet he doesnt think it feels like a wonderful world now.

Someone will attack Ronaldo and Rooney one day. The precedent has been set at White Hart Lane tonight.

What happened at White Hart Lane?

Spurs fan t****** Lampard on the pitch after the game had ended.

It was a pen, but Ronaldo was very clever on the incident. If you watch it again, Ronaldo intentionally moves his trailing leg towards the defender, basically saying to Woodgate, you touch me and I'm going down. Woodgate tries to pull out but its too late he catches Ronaldo's trailing leg with his knee.

Is that being sly or is it naivety on the defenders part?

seriously, you don't agree with him?

As I posted on another thread.

Would Redknapp want Gary Neville jailed for hitting the Liverpool steward the other week after the game ?

I doubt it.

I'm not sure I do.

If jail was the punishment for that offence on a football pitch, then why exclude players who lash out at an opponent (or a fan or a referee as has happened in some cases) from a jailing offence ? Should the fan at Anfield a few seasons ago have been jailed for the mobile phone incident at Rooney ?

Of course the fan shouldn't have been on the pitch, but i.m.o. jails are for more serious offences than that. Community service or something, yes, jailing - no.

Also, if jail was a suitable punishment for that offence, then perhaps the likes of Gary Neville should come to the attention of the law and have faced serious charges for incitement that can directly lead to fans responding in this manner.

Duncan ferguson was jailed for an offence on the football pitch

footballers shouldn't have to worry about fans jumping on the pitch and attacking them

Thats not entirely true, he was on probation when he Nutted Mcstay hence he had breached his probation and did time for the initial offence.

And stewards shouldn't have to worry about players attacking them, it works both ways.

All depends on whether Lampard and the steward in both cases want to press charges. The steward can't be that arsed if he didn't want to press charges against Neville.
