Our sales this summer

Who knows who we will buy for this summer. It's interesting to speculate as to who we can get and the combinations are endless. Sure, we'd like to get Alves, Eto'o, Lahm, Klose and all the rest.

 

But, what is a little more certain is who we will get rid of and what we will get for them. Does anyone have opinions on who and what kind of money will we get?

 

I think the following:

 

Defintely to be sold:

 

Cisse -- hopefully for 8 million, may be a bit lower

Pongolle -- 5 million. Who knows what his loan agreement says

Le Tallec -- 2 million at best

Dudek -- He'll be released and we won't get anything

Zenden -- He's out of contract also and will be let go

 

Good chance to be sold:

 

Riise -- May have to go if we are to get better. He'd pull 6-8 million hopefully

Kewell -- he may be done anyway and could retire. Could be sold for a nominal fee

Fowler -- Not entirely convinced he'll go. Could settle for being a 5th striker but will be released if not

Crouch -- We'll probably buy a striker, and he'll go if we do. 6-8 million sale price

 

Possibly to be sold:

 

Hyypia -- I hope not. He should gradually transition into coaching. If he goes, a free to a Finnish club

Xabi -- Could go. A big bid from Spain could be tough to pass up

 

So, the bottom line is that I could see us getting at least 20 million in incoming funds this summer. It could end up being a very eventful one if the owners let us have an additional 20-30 million to spend.

i think Cisse will go for 8-10, Pongolle at 4, crouch will go for 12 we paid 6-7 for him

 

EDIT: and Xabi isn't going anywhere!

if we get 10 mio for crouch, it will be a great deal. he hasn't played regularly this season.

 

I doubt we'll be looking for a leftback, so I reckon Riise is safe. Kewell is too early to speculate on. He will still play this season and it could all depend on how he plays.

 

Fowler is most definitely gone.

 

I'd sooner include Garcia in the 'possible' category than xabi.

Don't know where this idea has settled in from that it would be "tough" to avoid selling our best central midfielder.

 

I'd rather hope this summer will not be eventful, we don't want a second swathe of players coming in over the summer needing to settle in and acclimatise. One or two buys and build on the progress of this season would be best.

Can't believe some would have us spare Kewell when not even blinking before seeing Riise out the door.

 

Since Kewell has been injured he seems to have become a better player.

 

I'm not saying Riise is the best in the world, but he has been fabulous for us on many European nights, especially left midfield. He was important in both recent European titles.

 

But lets keep that aussie prick cos we'll only get two million.

Well 5million sterling is about 8 million Euros - can you really see a club in Spain paying 8million for Pongolle - I certainly don't/

 

2-3 million euros is all we are realistically going to get for him.

Pongolle is doing quite well in Spain. I think we should get at least £3M for him. He has been scoring and making an impact and he is still very young. Someone will get a very good deal on a talented young striker IMO.
