ref has spolied it with some garbage decisions.

the red card given to Giuly was ajoke, clearly looking to even things up after the Sevilla red in the first half.

Barca's first goal was miles offside before the cross went in to toothpick, nice equalizer by Sevilla, deflected free kick by Alves for 2-1.

Barca look poor in defence again and are being out hustled by sevilla.

Zambrotta off for a 2nd yellow.

Ref is on a par with some of the rubbish in the PL.

toothpick subbed out for edmilson.

Eto'o miss kick :)...

Puyol f***s me right off, he is meant to be a captain and a centre back but he dives around and waves imaginery cards non-stop. The diving is the worst, and the fact that he more often than not gets the free kick because nobody expects it from a centre back.

Kanoute and Alves have just missed easy chances.

Kanoute has just missed a feckin sitter in injury time....

3 mins to go.

Alves misses again!

Alves off the bar this time! He does look a very tidy player though.

FT

Sevilla 2 Barca 1

Ronaldinho's missed pen cost them.

crazy misses in the last minutes.

Even crazier to see a rightback charging down the left as the frontman in injury time protecting a lead.

similar situation to ours today.

Barca had so much of the ball but got only 1 goal for their pressure, even when a man up.

They failed to take their chances and lost.

Both teams with plenty on their minds before Tuesday, although this defeat will probably hurt Barca more than ours.

Alves is outrageously good, he was absolutely sensational. He's like a one man right side, you don't even need anyone else in front of him!

Should have borrowed a few quid to get him last summer however much they wanted because he'll truly cost megabucks after the season he's had. I think they'll want £20m+ to even consider selling.

I'd pay that much as well if Mr Gillett and Mr Hicks will stump up...

Alves is special. If only he would cut out the playacting he'd my favourite player. Last night he lost the ball near the centre circle and instantly hit the ground as if he'd been shot in the ankle. After the ball was kicked out of play he got up and was quite OK...

However, other than that incident he was relatively well-behaved (even though he got booked once again).

Also saw Voronin score one goal and twice hit the post for Leverkusen vs. Stuttgart. Looked dangerous but didn't do much tracking back...

Tell Kev this on 'the just back from the match thread" on the LFC forum. He'll be delighted!! :D

does he beat players with pace and skill. that's what we really need

Dunno what it is but I just cant see Alves in a red shirt - he just doesnt look like a Liverpool player

he would be fine in a Liverpool team that played 3 at the back, 5 in midfield and 2 up front. if we played 4-4-2, I would see him as a bit of a liability as he always wants to get forward.

Does he ever! You've never seen someone go past players so easily (he's Ronaldo-esque in that aspect dare I say it); Alves is fast as f*ck, very skilful and seems to be able to run at full pelt continuously without having to stop which is actually a bit odd; it's like he doesn't need lungs.

I agree that's what we need and it's exactly what Alves brings to the team; if I could sign just two players this summer to make us a title challenging side it'd be him and Eto'o...

Like we really need more lightweight Spaniards ;)

i've seen him quite a bit and he has an engine on him alright and bags of heart (diving schit that he is aside). I just don't see him beat people that often. Last season his finishing looked poor too, dunno about now

where would barca play him. they have balleti and zambrotta. Is one of them going

How was Sevilla's Russian striker doing? Am just curious, because he's getting more and more overhyped in our media.

Scored cracking goal with his left foot on the turn, worked hard and looked a tidy player to be honest Gary. Took him off towards the end but he was instrumental in Sevilla winning the game.

Whenever I see him he usually gets round players with a 1-2 with a teammate or pure grit, pace etc rather than tricks and stuff. Which is sometimes better anyway, he seems so determined in everything he does.
