Hundurinn Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 I'm finally going back to Anfield to see Liverpool play scum utd on 3rd of March. Obviously I want to soak in the pre match drinking and etc. Also after the match. Which pubs do you recommend before and after the match?
Cunny Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 The Oakfield is full of idiots like my dad, best avoided.
Guy_Incognito Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 Is there any chance we could have a multipage thread about getting tickets for the "big" games when it's the only game you go to in the season? Cheers.
tomasjj Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 When over in Liverpool, I always pop by Poste House downtown for a few.Charming place.
Guest PaulMcC Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 I usually drink in the Salisbury cos it's not as packed as some of the other pubs. When they open upstairs it's easy to get served.
jon_hall Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 When over in Liverpool, I always pop by Poste House downtown for a few.Charming place. Good cheap pub. Lost it's charm a bit since they did the refurb.
uppsala Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 When over in Liverpool, I always pop by Poste House downtown for a few.Charming place. £2.50 for a trebble, and the real ale is great.
jon_hall Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 £2.50 for a trebble, and the real ale is great. Cheaper to buy three doubles than two trebles. Mind the price for a single and double are the same. The ale can be good or can be s****.
Boca Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 Cheaper to buy three doubles than two trebles. Mind the price for a single and double are the same. The ale can be good or can be s****. And if you buy a treble don't give it to Big Wayne to taste

Andy Mac Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 (edited) Cheaper to buy three doubles than two trebles. Mind the price for a single and double are the same. The ale can be good or can be s****. That made me laugh. John "The Power" Hall . I could almost hear Sid Waddell saying "Aye, he's gone for the three doubles rather than the two trebles cos it's cheapa. He doesn't miss much this lad" Edited February 15, 2007 by Sammy Lee's body double
Behind Enemy Lines Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 Flat Ironand then next door to happy days chippie - marvellous
Hundurinn Posted February 15, 2007 Author Posted February 15, 2007 Ok this is great. The game starts at 12.45. At what time do people show up at the pubs before a game early as this?
impware Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 I usually drink in the Salisbury cos it's not as packed as some of the other pubs. When they open upstairs it's easy to get served. I thought that had closed? I've been going to the Waverley for years, but they've just been told they're getting a compulsory purchase order and will be gone at the end of the season.

The one next to the bookies about a 2 minute walk from the Kop? Might be a different Salisbury that you are on about has shut.
jon_hall Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 The one next to the bookies about a 2 minute walk from the Kop? Might be a different Salisbury that you are on about has shut.Think he means the one in the back street away from the kop end. Was due to shut.
Guest PaulMcC Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 Think he means the one in the back street away from the kop end. Was due to shut. Is there 2 close to each other? This one is on the main road and has a side door in one of the streets off.
jon_hall Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 Is there 2 close to each other? This one is on the main road and has a side door in one of the streets off. Down back street somewhere between Oakfield Road and Breckfield Road North so not the same place.
impware Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 Think he means the one in the back street away from the kop end. Was due to shut. Yep sorry, I meant that one. It's become a bit of a ghost town up those streets. Dead easy to park now though!
dorgie Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 Down back street somewhere between Oakfield Road and Breckfield Road North so not the same place. Jon Hall =
Murphman Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 The Winslow Aye. Let's all meet him under the Dixie Dean pub sign.
