Why would we swap an injured player who might never come back as strong as he was, for someone is consistently scoring goals in Europe and in the Premiership when he plays?

because he's a better player who scores a lot more goals.

 

People have claimed Owen was finished because of injuries before and he has always come back and made them eat their words. He's too talented and dedicated to not get back.

 

original suggestion was tongue in cheek, as it's never going to happen, but hell if it actually did, I'd bite their hands off, even though I am fairly happy with crouch.

Dunno. If he found himself fourth choice, I could see him wanting to leave. And newcastle, as much as a joke they are, are one of the few clubs with "ambition" he could hope to sign for. Can't see any of the other big four wanting him nor spurs. I suppose Villa and porthsmouth might qualify now too though. West ham?

But i think on this occasion it's more likely that Roeder is just trying it on, rather than him being encouraged by us

I have no doubt that Roeder is just letting Crouchy know he is interested in him. In an ideal scenario I still think Rafa could move back to 4-5-1 and Crouchy is the player best suited to that role.
