......with our 5 most difficult away games behind us.

Top 2 finish is out of the question, but (and I know that there was nothing from today's performance to suggest this) if we can re-build the confidence over the next 2 or 3 games, there is no reason whatsoever that we can't finish 3rd and pick up a Cup or two.

4 points behind 3rd place team.

Which just goes to show how bad the PL is.

we know that when the team at the top gets humped by Southend in the Cup.

2nd is still there to be had.

Though it will be f**king difficult.

Scum's squad is thin, with a bit of luck and a couple of injuries on the level of Sissoko and Kewell, they will drop a lot of points.

Relies on us getting our act together on the same order second half of last season though.

you're joking surely?

based on our away form so far and the lack of ideas, 4th place will be pushing it.

6 hours after the game and I am still seething.

thats our next 11 games. 33 points to play for. we have to realistically be looking at taking 28-29 points from them. thats a minimum of 9 wins from 11.

I am not worried about the home games, we seem to be able to take care of any team at Anfield.

From the 5 away games, I would expect us to lose 2, draw 2 and win 1. That is based on the way we are playing right now. We will be seen as easy prey by the likes of Spurs and Charlton, we always do Ok at Wigan and Blackburn, and I cannot imagine losing to Watford even the way I feel today.

I'm seething too, but I still think other teams will slip up and we will get better.

Our away for has been disgraceful, no two ways about it, but we should not expect to lose another league match all season if you look at it on a game by game basis.

We will not win the league, the chavs will buy again in Jan and we can't expect them AND scum to slip up, but one of them will, and it will most likely be man u.

From what I've seen of Arsenal, scum and the chavs, we have nothing to be scared of at Anfield. Specially man u, who are top, and despite a performance from us a hell of a lot worse than todays, did not impress me at all. They will drop points, and a lot of them. The question is can we get out act together?

We did last season from xmas onwards and we have a better squad now. It will need something like that, but we've proven we can do it. I am not saying it's in the bag, but I'm a fan and to write us off is stupid.

I have to disagree. we still have to go to places where we always struggle, any team in London to name a few. I don't see the mancs or Chavs slipping up, Arsenal might as they focus on CL and they are not so strong away from home.

As for having a better squad, I am not so sure. The only player signed this year who adds to the quality of the squad is Kuyt. I am yet to be convinced by any of the other signings.

PPL here assume that we still a top 4 team. in name yes, but in reality we are not, not yet anyway.

So based on this, we are presently a mid table type of team judging by our performances.

None of the teams listed above can now be taken for granted in terms of a favourable result.

Unless the players and manager pull this round, 4th place is by no means a surety. :(

I'd take 4th now if it was offered it.

I've seen absolutely nothing from us this season that suggests that we're going to overtake any of Chelsea, Man U or Arsenal.

i m not going to be greedy...

based on current away form, i take 4th and CL spot for next season.... :(

football's a funny game and things can flip right over for the Mancs and Chelsea but it's hard to see it happening to them based on their form...

I foresee this to be a running theme this season, just 4 points lads, just 8 points lads, just 12 points lads, just 16...oooerr f***.

truth be told, i am actually scared looking at the table these days. told myself to only look at it at the end of Dec...

The Bears just stuffed the Giants!!! Should been happy looking at the NFC North table standings...

Bears looking pretty at 8-1!!!

Yada yada yada

Its not like its the first time I have read that arrogant form of statement on this board.

I dont think we will win the PL this season, but we will not drop away enough to be overtaken by the team with the worst PL away record this season. Not only would we have to collapse, but you would have to go on a home and away winning streak. You keep hoping it will start and it has not done yet. Forget this "We have had the hardest start" crap, besides Arsenal, Chelsea and United away you should have got loads of points from the other games. On paper you were supposed to be the team challenging.

You`re best hope is 4th

nor will it be the last, you are in a liverpool forum, its natural that statements like that pop up esp after a painful defeat. After all, you are our closest rivals in terms of premiership trophies so its a kneejerk reaction.

3rd is a distant reality but i believe 4th is the likely outcome. as for "best hope", thats harsh but of course, its coming from a manc fan.

If I've read it correctly (which I don't think you have) they mean Mancs will fall away from Chelsea not that we'll catch the Mancs up.
