Sion Posted September 11, 2006 Posted September 11, 2006 That w***** Koeman is managing them now! w*****!
Sion Posted September 11, 2006 Author Posted September 11, 2006 Groupweek 1 - PSVStadium: Philips StadionCapacity: 36,500 seats PSV reached the knockout stages for the 2nd year on the row last season, having narrowly lost to AC in the semi's in our season. They are a good side, at home, and should not be underestimated. Ronald Koeman has taken over from Guus Hiddink, and it is thought by many PSV fans their team will achieve little this year after losing some of their best players and their 'old guard' looking past their best. Koeman was in charge of the Benfica side who beat us twice last year (1-0 portugal, 2-0 at Anfield) and will be full of confidence he can do it again. IMO his tactics are decidedly dodgy, and he may go on the defence, making us take the initiative, like Benfica last year, hitting us on the counter. Players to watch AlexKluivert (if fit)Kromkamp My Prediction - 2-1 Liverpool
liverbird04 Posted September 11, 2006 Posted September 11, 2006 PSV versus middlesborough actually from the official site as wellhttp://img321.imageshack.us/my.php?image=a...iverpoolkb0.jpg
Candystore Posted September 11, 2006 Posted September 11, 2006 The Times is suggesting that we might play 3-5-2, with Agger coming in and Xavi being dropped for Zenden.

Widnesian Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 -----------------------Pepe-------------------------Finnan--------Agger------------Hyppia-----AurelioPennant------Gerrard---------Sissoko---Gonzales------------Bellamy---------Kuyt-------------------- PSV 0-4 Liverpool FC Following a disasterous merseyside derby last Saturday, Rafa Benitez's team bounced back with a comfortable four goal lead over PSV Eindhoven, which will surely see them through to the next round of the Champions League. Liverpool took control of the game early on and the Dutch struggled to cope with the pace of Pennant and Bellamy as their defence was run ragged for 90 mins. It took only 5 mins for the reds to fashion an opening goal, Finnan fed Pennant down the right and a delightful one two between Bellamy and Kuyt saw the new Dutch Master of English football hit an exocet into the PSV goal, that brought looks of fear and awe to the faces of the hapless PSV defence. Two minutes later, Gerrard set of on one of his rampaging runs from midfield and after leaving several PSV players thrashing about in his wake, struck the ball from a good 30 yards out in typical Gerrard fashion to make it 2-0 Liverpool. Benitez team started playing the type of seamless pass and move football that Shankly and Paisley would have been proud of and it was one of their own legends Johan Cruyff who summed the game up perfectly when he told the Dutch media that they had possible witnessed one of the greatest teams in Europe playing "Total Football" not seen in this country since the 70's. Agger and Hppia were giants at the back and looked impeneterable against the hopefull long balls thrown forward by the desperate Dutch. Momo Sissoko dominated the midfield and left the PSV midfield in no doubt who was "The Boss". The Latin combination of Aurelio and Gonzales clicked immediately and they soon discovered a Samba like telepathy which resulted in an easy tap in for Belllamy on 62 mins. But the cherry on the cake came on the 74th minute after a string of passes which started of in the Liverpool half and seemed to involve the entire Liverpool team. Igt was a move that seemed to mesmerize the Dutch and resulted in an unmarked Kuyt heading home from the six yard box for his second of the night. The Rafalution is here to stay, Viva Le Rafaultion!
Stevie H Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 probable PSV team: PSV: Heurelho Gomes; Jan Kromkamp, Alex, Eric Addo, Carlos Salcido; Timmy Simons, Edison Méndez, Ibrahim Afellay, Jason Culina; Arouna Koné, Jefferson Farfán.
Reggie Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 Reina Finnan Carragher Hyppia Warnock Gerrard Alonso Sissoko Aurelio Kuyt Bellamy Can't see Rafa being too attacking and playing Pennant and Gonzalez. Priority will be a clean sheet and hopefully nick one the other end.
Stevie H Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 Team for tonight Reina Finnan Agger Carragher Warnock Pennant Gerrard Sissoko Gonzalez Bellamy Kuyt i don't think he'll go with that loose a midfield in the opening group match away from home. gerrard - sissoko - alonso - aurelio.

Tosh Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 I see Aurelio has joined the long line of graduates from the Liverpool School of Corner Taking and cannot clear the first man
Earl Hafler Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 Agreed - I'm amazed at the negative comments throughout this thread... Probably still pissed off from Saturday. I'd love to know if ithis was the side Rafa had in mind before the derby because, if so, you'd have to say he almost got it right
Spike Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 no thats my opinion as someone who's seen these supposedly super fit footballers play 50+ games a season and manage quite well thankewverymuch over a number of years. If you think they need mollycoddling even more than they get their whole careers, then thats ok too matey boy Duncey. I know what you mean - back in the day with a team of 14 or 15 players or so carrying us through the season and that. All the pro-zone and fitness info could perhaps be as much part of the disease as it is the cure (probably better for a debate elsewhere...) We didn't have ASBO's back in the day either - you got a good t***ting instead. Which makes me turn back to the game and a certain european tradition of ours

I'd love to know if ithis was the side Rafa had in mind before the derby because, if so, you'd have to say he almost got it right In view of the fact that Bolo and Bellamy weren't even in the squad, I guess so. Fingers crossed etc etc.....!
BDB Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 Picture problems on espn in the states, kind of choppy, but we're not playing as well this 2nd half as we did in the end of the 1st. Certainly needs a little flair to come in lil luis should be the one, maybe instead of aurelio, but that could open us up, as warnock in the 1st was getting forward ahead of aurelio, and we know that luis doesn't really track back.
Bootle Buck Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 We seem very content to just Hoof it out tonight. No chances being taken.
BDB Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 Loving the yellow kit. best of the 3 we have. Nice effort from pennant there. stopped by the keeper
Guest JV Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 close from kone should of been 1 down there
