Accomodation close to Anfield

Hello people,

Firstly, my apologies if this would be better suited to the Tickets forum or just not welcome at all!

Myself and a friend are travelling up (via train) to the Newcastle game on September 20th (wednesday night game). Can somebody recommend somewhere we could stay fairly close to Anfield (basically somewhere that won't cost a huge taxi fare to get to and that is pretty cheap in itself) for the night before our train journey the following morning

Many thanks for any help

but either way you need a taxi to and from Lime st, or a taxi to and from Anfield, so you may as well stay in city centre

we've got some places etc etc what's the budget?

Don't really want to be spending more than about £30-40. Don't need anything other than a bed for the night

Try the Campanile Hotel by the Albert Dock. A shade over £40 probably, but excellent value.

The Campanile in Runcorn is also a good option. Not as daft as it sounds as it's only 20 minutes by train from Liverpool to Runcorn (trains more or less every half-hour I recall) and the Campanile there is right by the station (just past the Railway pub, so you can even get a pint within 50 yards of the hotel). It's a great fall-back position when central Liverpool hotels are full, for the sake of a 20 minute train journey. I even managed to book rooms there for Grand National weekend when you couldn't get a hotel in Liverpool for love nor money.

Also, Runcorn is the first stop for Virgin trains out of Liverpool, so it couldn't be more convenient if you're travelling down south. In fact it's more convenient than getting to Lime St from most downtown Liverpool hotels

I have a twin room booked in the Travelodge in the city centre for that night & it looks like I won't be using it after all. If you want I can give you the details of it ? I think its about £47 or so.

I was going to PM you but it says I can't access that feature on the board or something. Can you send me an email please? magicsushi at gmail.com. Thanks :)

Everybody else, thanks a lot for the advice and recommendations!

and OOT'ers!

Tripadvisor.com reviews for the Adelphi are hysterical.

it's one of the hotels with the worst ratings there, some right mad reviews.

The Adelphi is the worst hotel in the world.

I have stayed in the Adelphi a couple of times - I quite enjoyed its faded glamour. Over-priced for what it is though, for sure

Thanks Poolfrog, what's the closest station to Anfield itself?

just get a cab from the city centre, its about a fiver, and far quicker and cheaper. there are no stations that close to the ground anyway
