Leo No.8 Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 Reports in the media talking about a delirious Italian nation welcoming home their victorious squad with as many as 500,000 people on the streets of Rome. We had double that after the Champions League win, and we're just a club and a medium-sized city...

monkey puzzle Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 Did we actually have a million out that night? I mean there were s*** loads and I didn't see the rest of the route only the centre of town but how the hell do they know there were a million folk out on the street. But we are s*** hot.
Sion Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 Hell we had more than 100 thou on the FA cup parade! We're awesome!
Guz Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 There was more than 500k in Rome surely. Some of the images of all the people and flags are surreal. Never seen anything like it. Our parade after Istanbul was AMAZING, ut surely if we had 1m people on the streets that would mean every man, woman and child in Merseyside was at the parade?
Big E Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 has anyone got that picture of the bus, surrounded by people all reaching inwards
Sara Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 The commentator woman was raving about "more than 750,000 on the streets of Rome cheering the team home". Whoopee f***in do!! We had more than a million easily when we brought home number 5. Plus more would have come if they (ie me and Lasty amongst others ) hadn't been stuck in Istanbul!
RP Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 Sky News said there were over a million people on the streets of Rome. They are great "margins of error" there.

I think the amazing thing is it wasn't just the locals - reds were coming from far and wide to cheer them home! The reports did say around a million...
Jim D Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 (edited) I think during the parade there were around 300,000 people around St George's Hall, with an estimated 750,000 people lining the streets along the parade route. That makes the total easily over a million. Edited July 11, 2006 by Jim D

Yes but don't forget that we flew all those people in specially from Norway because Everton are, of course, the true people's club in the city.
hideNseek Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 Wasn't just people from Liverpoool. I know of 10 car loads that came from Gloucester (family n friends of mine).

The reports did say around a million... the local police also said the same which i suspect is likely to be more accurate than the press.
