REDS ANNOUNCE LINCOLN FRIENDLY

Steve Hunter 07 July 2006

As part of the deal that took talented defender Jack Hobbs to Anfield a Liverpool X1 will play Lincoln City in a friendly on Wednesday, August 16th.

The League Two club will face a Reds select team at Sincil Bank and the match will mark a sentimental return to Lincoln for former Imp Hobbs.

The centre half was signed from Lincoln in the summer of 2005 and enjoyed an excellent debut season at Liverpool and was a key performer in the FA Youth Cup success.

Liverpool will be receiving an allocation of approximately 2,700 stand tickets for the game priced as follows:-

Adults - £15.00.

Concessions (Over 65's) - £10.00.

Juniors (Under 16's) - £5.00.

A further announcement will be made when the tickets go on sale for this fixture.

For ticket selling arrangements for all games please see latest ticket news

A Liverpool XI probably means a reserve/youth team.

My Wrexham tickets have "Liverpool XI" on them, hope not!

Lincoln is indeed on the same day as England are due to play Greece - it is an international date

Hopefully we'll hold on to all our internationals, as they're needed for this match. I know a couple of European leagues have started already, but I think this is the first time we've had an international friendly before our season starts. Absolutely absurd.

any odds on the mighty salif being skipper for that one?

33-1 we give him a chance to show us his goalkeeping skills.

What a thoroughly ridiculous time to have a friendly. They've just been at the WC for 6 weeks. International footy does my t*** in.

Absolutely. How are managers supposed to prepare properly for the opening game of the new season with their best players jetting off all over Europe, with some not back until Friday, and with the threat of injuries.
