Four platers?

Palletta

Gonzalez

Aurelio

Bellamy?

What no KuytAlvesPennantEtc?

Im not counting paletta and gonzalez. Gonzalez has allready signed and id totally forgoton about paletta.

The players im told are done deals are kuyt and arelio. And alves is likley to be concluded very very soon.

Well - we've been winning competitions, getting prize money from the league and europe. Liverpool is a well run club - there is money there. Last two summers, net spending has only been around £9 mill each time. And IF we sign Bellamy and Alves, and another couple players to total around £24 mill - some of that is offset by saleas as well. So all told - the net spending isn't a huge amount again.

Doesn't seem to me that there is a greater flood of money going out - just a good amount that you would expect from a succesful well run club.

Not sure why you think it's anything different to how it's been to be honest! I'd be more likely to question clubs like Everton or Newcastle who splash the cash, rather than us!

And MOST big transfers are structured on appearances and the like.

Not questioning it, as im sure that most of our deals are structured. Just was trying to work out who the outgoings are, and why everyone thinks are are skint as f***.

aye, I never quite get why being sensible in the transfer market is considered as being skint as fec :D

OK, if it looks like we are scrimping for every penny, you'd question it. But the fact is - we have a big fec-off squad still full of another managers expensive mistakes (in wages as much as fees), and its hard to get rid of these players. So thats something else taken into consideration when transfer dealings come around I'm sure. Meaning its as important for Rafa to have to get rid of players as it is to buy.

I just think fans don't understand the finance of football clubs hence there's always huge misconceptions on how transfers are funded, how much money has actually been spent etc

you get a lot of money from shirt sales though rushian.

especially in the far east.

I reckon we have always had a few quid to one side.

We had the money to buy Owen

We had the money to buy Simao

Neither at the expense of another signing so far as I can tell.

My guess is if Rafa really wants a player the board have been happy to fund him

The comment by Bascombe yesterday about needing to sell I don't think is necessarily true, more of a 'we have players for sale' to the press and other clubs

I can never remember Liverpool being "skint". We have consistently spent money on players down through the years and have broken the British transfer record on a couple of occasions. The perception that we have no money has only come about since Abramovich came on the scene.

Off the top of my head we spent at least £25m last season and £35m the previous year. Not the kind of money that suggests we are broke.

Ric,

Just on a side note just found your comment about some other clubs having their deals done for 2-3 months as well interesting. Now obviously Chelsea is a given but have you heard about any of our other rivals spending plans?

Just curious/ nosey. ;)

We really need to crack the US shirt sales market.

If we'd only buy Ronaldinho for £40m then really target both the far east and USA shirt market we could pay for his transfer fee in 2-3 weeks in sales then pay for the new stadium over the next year. Problem solved ;)

Nothing detailed on the others supposed to be man utd, spurs and arsenal though. although i know that man utd where not expecting the kind of money they got for mikel, it was kind of like a bonus 12 mil to spend (which was the reason they suddenly offerd 12 mil for carrick).
