They are ? If they're simply being frugal, and following some kind of 'got to earn it to spend it' kind of motto, then fine that would fit with their actions. Not sure it gets us a league title anytime soon, and could see us stay out of the CL for a while too, but it would explain their big cost cutting measures. Also, if they're just trying to spend a year slashing, before reinvesting in stadium/players, then again that would fit too. Again it's a little risky in terms of what we can currently achieve with our present wage bill/quality of squad, but it's a plausible explanation. These actions are also, however, the same actions you would take if you were looking to attract investment/buyers. Maintain a status quo, but on a cost base that's unrealistically profitable, on the grounds of it not being enough to fulfil any real ambition. I can't see any evidence at all just yet, that points conclusively to one or other of these possibilities, nor anything that rules them out either. It could be upto another 8 months or so til we can be more confident in their intentions. The recent investment in the Redsox was, I think, a positive sign for us, but nothing more than that until they show some more ambition here too.

Rafa Benitez - Napoli Manager
Davvo replied to Rory Fitzgerald 's topic in General Football Discussion
What in the f*** are you talking about ? What kind of c*** would have done that in December 2010 ? There was discontent in September, fact, loads wanted him gone within 3 months of him being appointed, some sooner. Cheering opposition goals ? -

That's exactly what I said -
If it wasn't for you posting his articles on here, you wouldn't have to read posts from the fetishist, Lawton lovers (who I'm not sure exist, but still).

Rafa Benitez - Napoli Manager

He was barely in charge a few months. The rebellion, as you call it, started in earnest in September. It was just abundantly clear that he was the wrong man for the job. I was one of those willing to give him a chance, on the basis that being in the job we might aswell back him, but he'd lost me by early October, and I was slow to get on his back really. There were many had written him off before the season started, never gave him a chance, visionaries I think they are known as. Bargain Bucket's at Half Time you say ? -
You could also read it that he felt he had the necessary qualities to fill the hole we had at RB (ie better than Flanno in the absence of Kelly, and with Johnson required at LB), without necessarily meaning it would be a permanent shift. I didn't read it as being he's a better RB than he is CB, though you're right he could think that.

And that's just against Reading.

f*** me you can be contrary. He sulked, he played poorly, look at the teams results not his penalty and free kick scoring prowess. I, and probably noone else, blame Adam for getting Blackpool relegated, but his spat with Oyston quite clearly resulted in a major sulk and drop off in performance, from him and the team as a whole. Your cursory search for his goalscoring record is frankly bizarre. He was their talisman, driving force, and without his drive they were frankly s****. With that drive they were far from s****, and in reasonable shape league wise til after they beat us in January. I'm not going to continue arguing the toss on a subject you're incredibly detached from, and only have stats and google to assist you on. If anything's ludicrous, it's the thought you might consider yourself in a good position to comment on this really. I'll take the second hand opinions of family and friends who are season ticket holders at Blackpool, plus a couple of viewings myself, over your googling Cobs.

Definitely a club option for another year.

Those deals are they only way they can persuade players to go there. They train on a crappy field by the airport, battered by the elements, play on a farmers field, wash their own training and playing kit, all for 10 shillings a week. OK, they do still get a lot of money by most people's standards, but wages are lower than the majority of those in the Championship.
-
3, one of which was a pen, but it's irrelevant anyway. I'm telling you he was a shadow of the player he'd been upto January. You can scour around for as many stats as you like Cobs, but you're wasting your time. Not to mention that midfielders peformances don't get measured in goals. They hardly won a game after Jan 31st, and Adam had been the catalyst to just about every single goal/decent move before that point. His drop in performances were noticeable.
-
He didn't, he sulked for a while, played poorly, they had a bad patch and fell into the relegation battle. He recovered a bit of form the last couple of games but too late by then. The thing people don't seem to understand here, is that Oyston isn't going to cave because he suddenly realises he's likely to get no more than we are currently offering. He's a stubborn prick, and his club are in very good financial health. He gets a kick out of messing with the 'big boys', absolutely hates the big clubs, agents and all the stuff that surrounds the Premier League (apart form the wedge him and his Dad have trousered form it obviously, the hypocritical get).

He's repugnant. Thing is, this is very similar to the Adam scenario, with Ince's contract expiring this Summer, but with Blackpool having an option to take out an extra year I think, as they did with Adam. Can't see us overpaying, and there's not a chance in hell Oyston will cave, so you've got to feel sorry for Ince in a way. You'd think Oyston would have learnt from the Adam experience, where his game dropped off considerably February to May as a result of the January nonsense f***ing his head up.

My link This article from McNulty is verging on scandalous. What is the BBC doing allowing it's journalists to submit PR fluff like this ? BlueNoseLuvviec*** : ' Phil ? We need cash, decided to sell Fellaini, get us as much as you can, thanks love' McNulty : 'I'm typing as we speak boss'

Right now I'd say it's as high a priority as any other, I agree. I think we've got some good central midfielders, but there are question marks regarding all of them to some degree or other, age, physical condition, unfulfilled potential etc . Also, we don't yet seem to have found a perfect combination of any 3 of the 6 or 7 players available. I haven't seen this Strootman player, youtube clips aside, but the description's of him seem like the kind of player that could knit things together well. In terms of getting us to where we want to be, a top class CM is just as important as the other areas in need of strengthening, one or two forwards, fullback, CB. Need to fill those 4 or 5 holes in this and/or the Summer. I guess it comes down to who's available, when, and at what price.

Just don't send it to ITV like I did In all honesty, that f***** should be sacked for that. He hadn't even had time to study the replay before he spat out the cheat remark.
-
Calm down, and get some perspective. Maybe have an extra story at bedtime ? Sweet dreams.

I was agreeing with you?

Thats what I understood.

So f***ed off was I with Champion's comments, I fired off an email to ITV. I then realised I was watching ESPN . That'll teach me for a sad Victor Meldrew moment.

Aye, ignore the critics of that performance, completely irrelevant.
