Some very good points you have there. All Im saying is that if the general consensus is that we need 2-3 players, they are then suggested by Rafa, the owners then buy them and he's given a season to break into the top2 position (i.e. challenge for the title). If he gets the players he wants/ or their similar equilvants, then he will have no excuse and he moves on to new pastures and we have to start again. Rafa either gets the last couple of players he wants or he goes(leaves or is relieved of his duties) I would suggest the ego of the American Owners will see us splash the cash for a couple of top players, whether they are Rafa's choices or a new Manager's Im not so sure of.

Yes it is, but if we are to believe that we are only 2-3 top class players away from winning/challenging - then they either give it to Rafa or his replacement. As much as everyone thinks that if Rafa left, the team would have to be built again, why should it have to, considering most think we are so close...........Why couldn't a new manager come in , be given money for 2-3 top attacking players (plus the new defender) and we would then demand a challenge. If the owners don't get the couple of players we want to challenge, then we will be fighting for 3/4/5 spot for years to come......unless we get a manager as good as Wenger who can build, rebuild challenging teams every 2-3 years buying players less than 10million.

Im starting to think that the owners should ask Rafa how many players he needs to win the title, 2-3 top class signings. They provide him with them,spent whatever it needs be and then Rafa is given everything he needed to win it. If he can't win it or challenge (and I mean being pipped or finishing 2nd), he's given his marching orders and a new manager comes in. I think Rafa is an excellent manager, but overanalyzes alot, but is starting to sound abit like Houllier did, with the excuses. Give him the last 2-3 players he wants/needs, then give him 1 full season with them and if he isn't challenging, he's gone and we someone else gets a go! I don't want him leaving and then suggesting that he didn't get the backing.

Two words to that: Jose "the superstar" out Avram Grant (who?) in Where is the massive player revolt? and Chelsea are doing well with alot of their top players injured i.e. being coached to wether the storm until the strength returns.

My biggest problem is the lack of "football" being played. Everything is tactics, new technical advancements and analysis of players fitness levels etc etc The most successful managers, just let the players play football and pass and move at pace: Ferguson & Wenger Having to deal with buying 7 million players you say? Babel 11 million Kuyt 10 million Torres 20 million Alonso 10 million Masch 10million? Maybe if he didn't buy so many defenders for 2million here and there and too many 7million players he may actually be able to buy 2 quality 10million players.....but look above, he has been able to do that and our forward line still isn't My frustration stems from the fact that our midfield is defensive minded rather than attack minded. As much as I don't want a change of manager, I do think we need something new and with that in mind - I suggest a new coach to work alongside Rafa, an attack minded coach to work with our players in order to bring some new ideas to the pitch.
