Agree with this. Watched the match on TV and had the radio on and was a little annoyed to keep hearing Alan Green say that Babel was having poor match. I thought he played well.

It is amazing how when Alonso was here, most of these 'pundits' didn't say much about him (didn't even make most of these pundits 'Players of the season' lists last season), but now that he's gone, he's now got an almost mythic status.

I remember from last season when we played at Spurs in the league, Babel came on for Keane, and while Keane wasn't particularly threatening in that game, Babel just disappeared upfront and we had no one who could hold onto the ball, which sort of led to Spurs pressing up on us and getting that late winner.

I've never liked him since he sent off Gerrard in the derby a couple of years ago - seemed a bit too keen to hand out the 2 yellows to him that day (considering that it was a derby and tackles usually go flying in in those games). I know that Rafa is getting stick in the press for slagging off the ref but that challenge on Voronin from Ekoto (sp.) was a penalty, he made no attempt to challenge for the ball, he just banged right into him. And I heard that c*** Gray say that it wasn't a handball, saying that his (Ekoto's) arm was not away from his body when the ball struck him, but the ball hit both his arms (the arm he held across his chest and his other arm which was away from his body). Guaranteed we didn't play well, but a competent referee would have given at least one of those as a penalty.

Writing off Aquilani without actually seeing him play is ridiculous.
