  1. It's no worse than any other Western European city. People just need to make sure they're wearing their big city hats. The usual rules apply; nothing in back trouser pockets, no ostentatious show of jewellery, watches etc. Just common sense really.

  3. In Italy if you successfully con the referee you're admired for being furbo, or cunning. In Italian there is a verb barare, to cheat, but no noun for those that perform this action. Indeed the dictionary definiton specifically refers to cheating at dice or cards, and then extends this to general dishonesty giving the example of barare in amore. You couldn't make it up.
  4. Get it sorted, Molby. I'll be there.
  5. In my experience the quality of football and food is often mutually exclusive
  6. yes fiori di zucca fried, whether on their own or stuffed, are ace artichokes, cooked in the same way, are boss too
  7. Q. Where's the best steak in Italy? A. Tuscany. Oh good, I'm off to Florence next month. I might stop off in San Benedetto del Tronto for good measure.
  8. No idea, my friend. I only really watch Bologna. What I'd be most concerned about, though, is his lack of appearences. He's only played 106 times for Roma since 2002. source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alberto_Aquilani
  9. According to Repubblica we've made an offer for Aquilani: We've offered 16 million euro but Roma want 20. The player has been offered a 3-year deal worth 3.5 million euro p.a. He's keen. source: http://www.repubblica.it/2009/05/sport/cal...html?ref=hpspr1
  10. No they're not. source: http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/drilldown/N...090715-0644.htm
  11. The Italian media are saying we're interested in the Roma midfielder, Aquilani as a replacement for Alonso. The price is 20 million Euro. source: http://www.repubblica.it/2009/05/sport/cal...html?ref=hpspr1

  13. It's not a fix. They're called Italian rules. It happens at the end of every season.
  14. You're right. I'm not trying to defend it. Just pointing out the exact circumstances.
  15. I enjoyed the sheer, unadulterated hiding.
  16. TBF Even Maldini said it was only 200 people. Every club has its loser fans, even us. Italian teams are no exception. Still absolutely ridiculous behaviour, mind.
  17. is owned by Milan City Council and used by both Inter and Milan so naming rights are a non-starter. They can't even use dedicated fixed advertising boards because of the prohibitive cost of alternating them week by week for the requirements of each team. While we're at it the official name is Stadio Giuseppe Meazza. The moniker San Siro is used because that's the name of the Milan suburb where it's located.
  18. In terms of conferences plenary means a full session or everyone in attendance, actually plenary /"pli;n@ri/ · adj. 1 unqualified; absolute. 2 (of a meeting) to be attended by all participants at a conference or assembly. · n. a plenary meeting. – ORIGIN ME: from late L. plenarius ‘complete’, from plenus ‘full’.

  23. Yes. The commentator makes no reference to 6 minutes. Like I said my memory, which is generally excellent, is that the game had just started. Like I said, I may be wong.
  24. I watched that Milan Real game on telly in Italy. First of all I'd like to say that Milan used to sing YNWA before Hillsborough happened and so for their fans to sing that song is not as "unlikely" as some seem to be suggesting. Secondly, my memory of the minutes silcence was yes the game had started, but only just when the ref blew his whistle for the comemoration to begin. I've tried to find evidence to support this memory but can't find any so I may be wrong.
