That's not true, it's just that other countries invested more. Australia is a small country so there isn't that much money to spend compared to other countries. They did well in Beijing and Athens, but had a poor showing in London.

I also view him through the price tag filter, and in comparison to these teenagers who have very little experience. But Earl is right, he's not Poulsen or Voronin awful, he's just Stewart "£20 million" Downing awful. Also you're right, he did run with the ball and put in a few crosses. Maybe i'm being harsh. He was the worst liverpool player on the pitch at least.

He's not objectively the best in the business, but he's very highly regarded in the industry. Then other countries cottoned on to the model and hired all the top australian coaches for big money, which partly explains the poor showing at london.

Downing was awful. The only good thing he did was not f*** up in the build up to the second goal. Weird considering he cost more than the rest of the team put together.
