  1. Agree with this especially the bold. There are a number of psychological effects that would come with such a win, including more confidence in our own ability plus making teams less confident they can get at us.
  2. ?
  3. Anything that Lawro says.
  4. Think it was in the times, but the player said on french radio he wants to stay at PSG.
  5. Depends, did he pronounce the 'e'?
  6. Was it Kaizer who was obsessed with him? Edit: He played for chelsea?
  7. Been wondering about this. When does he stop being a spoofer?
  8. Yep, he's transformed into the player I thought we were getting, rather than the player we did get. Although the price tag still makes me weep.
  9. So THAT's what happens when you do the running man in studs.
  10. I'll singe him meself if he's still here at the end of the window.
  11. It's relevant if we're discussing their ability to pay Cole's wages.
  12. Gifted? Gifted? Gifted? I think you might have been watching another game.
  13. We also changed the system between first and second season.
  14. Heaton seems to think this may not be completely accurate.
  15. Skrtel don't (rate) surf.
  16. Who doesn't rate whom?
  17. It's mind boggling that you can watch that game and call us a two man team. Admittedly in other games we've looked like a no man team.
  18. Sounds like another forward on our books.
  19. Downing Gerrard Johnson
  20. To get good players for cheap, you need to take some risks, the hope may be that brendan can address any attitude problems the player may have.
  21. Again my point, if the science and 'earthy reality' suggests that perfomance based incentives don't work, why are we doing using them in the contract of our brightest talent? That's what the science suggests, but as far as I can tell they've only demonstrated correlation, not causation. I'll get back in me box.
  22. Danny Murphy has described the argument with more insight and eloquence than I could. But if you're interested you should definitely watch the talk, Guatered posted the RSA version in the thread somewhere. The point was not that we shouldn't pay them lots of money, it was that we shouldn't assume that performance based incentives will result in better performance. Settle down grumpy. The study was to investigate the relationship between performance based incentives and performance, not to understand the human condition.
  23. Bren's a bit old school in his management, financial incentives are detrimental to performance.
  24. How is 'allowed' relevant?
