I’m not sure I’d be as arsed if it was foreign media rather than the stuff you’ve grown up watching and reading. I reckon he will get loads of fawning coverage from English / England gobsh*te journos if he does go to Madrid, and his club / England career will become a lot less negatively analysed. It has been much less bad this season but for the past few years he has been the most discussed player in the league I reckon. That might have done his head in a bit, in fact I’m sure it has.

Money is a factor, standing compared to your peers is the thing. Salah is clearly our top dog, I’m sure Trent can accept that but maybe he wants to be 2nd to top dog. Heard on a podcast the other week that Maldini had a clause in his contract that he would always match the 2nd highest earner in that Milan team. Quite clever.

The 2nd bit isn’t true but the first bit is. His injuries are one of the only things that worry me. The other one being the potential for a hoo ha f***ing up this title win.

I think it’s at least partly this. Some players want to try different things. Like Alonso and Thiago going around the league to experience being managed by different top coaches. I won’t miss Trent if he goes. He’s got loads about his game and his personality that do my head in a bit. I couldn’t be bothered with him as vice captain, sent the wrong message entirely.

Yeah. I remember him pretending he was fine with Mignolet and Karius, that was one of the only times I had a doubt about him. Turned out he was telling giant porkies to everyone for as long as it took to get a good one through the door. Didn’t mind making himself look silly for the greater good. Opposite of what they’re getting from Rubenson.
