Unless we're counting 4 forwards/attackers/goalscorers in a 4-2-4 or 4-2-3-1 and then you can count Wirtz as one of the 4, replacing Szoboslai. In that case the top 4 are strengthened quality wise and the midfield 2 are strengthened depth wise (Szob available to play there). So, it depends.

My main worry with Isak is how do we balance the team. If we're playing Isak & Ekitike as strikers in a 2 striker formation then that means Wirtz and Salah as wingers/inside forwards and 2 holding midfielders. That's a completely different formation to last year and why deviate from a winning formula. Either that or it's the same system but with one of Ekitike/Isak in the Diaz role, probably Ekitike then. But wouldn't we have been better off signing a different player for that role? Or we keep the same formation and play Ekitike & Isak as the 9's, but rotating. That means Gakpo with the backup being Wirtz moving over and Szoboslai at 10. They're beautiful puzzle pieces, but not sure how they all fit together.

It would probably balance our first team better as well, im still not sure how we're playing both Ekitike and Isak without either changing system or playing one on the wing. It depends how you look at it. If you look at the the forwards as the number 9 and the 2 wide players then last season we had 5 top players and now with Isak we'll only have 4. But that's not counting Wirtz and if we count him as a midfielder then it's a massive midfield upgrade. If you look at where goals & assists are going to come from perhaps it's better to look at the top 4 players. In that case it looks like we've gained in quality after Isak comes in. I've left out Elliott cause i dont really now where to put him (attack, midfield) and he's not gone yet and left out Rio cause he's 16. Has Szoboslai ever played right back, apart from in friendlies? On paper with his stamina he'd be my preferred option, but if he doesnt know how to handle the position it's not good.

That basically leaves us with Ekitike, Gakpo, Wirtz & Salah for "all" our goals and assists. No one to bring in for a goal when we need it (ok Chiesa). That's not ok.
