I probably wouldn't, i'd put that on Salah being the amazing player he is. That's why i also don't blame him now for Salah's decline. Don't think you can have it both ways. Either you praise Slot for last year's Salah and blame him for this year's version, or you say it's down to the player, and it's not down to Slot that he's not hitting last year's numbers.

Yeah, in my memory Barnes played about 2 seasons in midfield. Didnt realise it was 6 out of 10. That wildly skews the earlier stats. He scored the same amount of goals in his last 6 seasons as the first 2.

Oh, just had a look at Barnes's first 4 seasons. Just looking at those stats... they are mental. 0.74 goals+assists a game. Not quite Salah/Suarez levels (0,85ish) but better than Mane (0.59). I didnt realize Barnes only had 4 top class seasons as a winger, and most of his time at Liverpool was in midfield.

Barnes score 108 in 407. Mane scored 120 goals in 269 appearances. He's in the conversation.

Hard comparison, Barnes played more in a 4-4-2 and Mane in a 4-3-3. I think Barnes was more technically gifted and could adapt his game to a midfield role when his pace went. Mane was a bigger goal threat, hard to say how much formation played a role in that.
