Maybe that's why Rafa is signing (or being linked to signing) all these youth players or up and coming players for very little money. Maybe they're gonna be the squad fillers with just a couple of top class players bought with practically our entire transfer budget war chest.
  2. £30m for Bentley, I know he's having a good season and he's English but bloody hell....... I'll get me coat!!
  3. "Careful you don't slip on your a***, Rafa!"
  4. He's right footed isn't he? But I think I read somewhere that he prefers to play on the left or am I just making that up!? If so maybe he has a chance to get some games next season.
  5. Bellamy Kuyt Carragher
  6. Liverpool are set to sign Cambridge City left-back Danny Blanchett after the 19-year-old was handed a trial last month. (Daily Mirror)
  7. Unlikely to get one with Kewell nearing fitness, Aurelio back from injury, Garcia due back next season as well as Leto arriving not to mention the possibility of Hammill making an impact. Then there's alwways the possibility of Riise playing there. If he was our only option of the left then of course he would but there are too many "possibilities" for Rafa.
  8. Not the best source and can't find it anywhere else but if we haven't been able to sign Iriome Gonzalez from Tenerife then makes sense we're after another young winger. Liverpool set to snap up Sheffield Utd youngster tribalfooball.com - March 03, 2007 Liverpool are eyeing Sheffield United's teenage winger Jacob Mellis. Rafa Benitez, who has recently signed a host of top Spanish kids, is closing in on a deal for the Under-16 prospect who is about to quit the Blades. Mellis starred for the United side against Liverpool in the FA Youth Cup and is now set to head for Anfield before he signs a professional contract at Bramall Lane. Anyone know anything about the lad or see him play against us in the youth cup?
  9. They could also play Marquez there.
  10. Agree about Pennant not starting against Barca and if he can exploit the space Evra leaves behind him then great. Thing is Evra is stronger and quicker than Pennant and with Evra pushing on Pennant will be expected to track him back so would he be able to exploit that space? I think Gerrard on the right will give Evra much more to think about.
  11. But will Rooney, Saha/Larsson, Ronaldo and Giggs be able to exploit Samis lack of pace and play the ball round him on the deck? We could be caught out there but agree that he could be useful from set pieces but then we have to have good delivery for that!!
  12. Presumably meaning Pennant on the right. If so I can't see him getting much joy outta Evra.
  13. Maybe he just means that he won't be as regular a starter as he has been cos he knows it'll be Eto'o starting ahead of him!!
  14. Tis where I watch most of the games. Nice comfy lounge round the back! All the suggestions are good altho I dunno about the Sports Cafe, it's a bit full of "Townies" as we like to call 'em! Chavs maybe a better description!! That's what I found anyway when I watched the Bordeaux away game and apparently there's been a bit of touble down there. The White Hart isn't bad either. Just off Park Street on Park Row. If you wanna watch it right in town then probably the Walkabout on Corn Street is your best bet.
  15. Any idea who the back up would be? Sometimes it's better the devil you know.....
  16. And his Spanish speaking ones at that! If they can't communicate in English just buy a load of Spanish speaking ones so they can! Antwi Roque Huth Paletta Alcala Might as well through Insua in there as well and Arbeloa too!!!
  17. We're a one man team with him so we'd be a no man team then if he left! No chance!!
  18. Unless Gerrad is to play more on the right or in a free role. Therefore it'd only be 2 from 3. Hell no. (Hence the user name!!)
  19. We really must be struggling for decent young CBs. We've got bloody tonnes of them: Roque Antwi Hobbs Smith Huth Paletta O'Donnell And now Alcala, not to mention the U18s. Agger isn't exactly old either.

    Sissoko

I think Rafa actually said he is better than Vieira was at his age.
  21. Maybe Kuyt can do all the running for Torres?
  22. Henry? Drogba? Shevchenko?
  23. Coincidence?!
  24. Kuyt....?
  25. FWIW My best 11 (injuries permitting): 4-2-3-1: Reina Finnan Carragher Agger Riise Alonso Sissoko Bellamy Gerrard Kewell Kuyt
