    Dudek

If these comments are true it'll be interesting to see if he's on the bench tomorrow or whether Padelli will get the nod.
  2. I've got a couple of quid on Riise to score first in a 1-1 draw at 95/1!

    Reina

What record does Pepe Reina now hold that is better than the likes of Ray Clemence and Bruce Grobbelaar? We can reveal that the Spanish stopper has the best post-war record of clean sheets in his first 100 starts. Reina, who played his 100th game for Liverpool against Wigan Athletic on Saturday, has kept 55 clean sheets. Clemence kept 51 clean sheets in his first 100 starts for Liverpool, Grobbelaar has 50 while Istanbul hero Jerzy Dudek had 45 shut outs in his first 100 starts. With thanks to Liverpool FC's official statistician Ged Rea here is the clean sheets record for goalkeepers in their first 100 starts for the club since the 1960's for Liverpool. 1, Pepe Reina. 55 clean sheets. 2. Ray Clemence. 51 clean sheets. 3. Bruce Grobbelaar. 50 clean sheets. 4. Jerzy Dudek. 45 clean sheets. 5. Sander Westerveld. 42 clean sheets. 6. David James. 36 clean sheets. 7. Tommy Lawrence. 28 clean sheets. From HERE
  4. Got a friend at work who supports Shrewsbury and he watched their game against Accrington Stanley on the weekend and was very impressed with Antwi's performance. Said he had a great battle against his compatriot Asamoah and sent me a link to the Shrewsbury message board with a topic dedicated to Antwi's display. All of them very impressed: Link

  6. From HERE JOHN ARNE RIISE is one game away from a milestone 300th appearance for Liverpool. That's more than Anfield legends like John Toshack, Michael Owen, Steve McMahon and Jimmy Case - and only half a season shy of the totals racked up by Gerry Byrne, Kevin Keegan and Terry McDermott.
  7. From HERE Marseille coach Albert Emon, meanwhile, singled out on-loan Reds? striker Djibril Cisse for praise after he came off the bench to help his team reach their second successive Coupe de France final. Under-fire France international Cisse, named as a substitute for the third game running on Wednesday, but was introduced deep into the second half and scored with almost his first touch. That wrapped up a 3-0 win for Marseille and they now meet Sochaux in the May 12 final at the Stade de France. Cisse has been out of form in recent weeks and has been barracked by his own fans. Emon is glad to see his player answer the critics, saying: ?The boy makes sacrifices and works hard in training. He returned with a lot of desire for this game and I must pay homage to him.?
  8. From HERE Craig Bellamy and Xabi Alonso both trained yesterday and are fit to return to the Reds squad. Bellamy has missed the last two matches with a knee injury, while Alonso sat out the midweek win over Middlesbrough with a thigh strain.
  9. This guy's a t*** and clearly knows very little about football. Unlike Emile Heskey, Crouch has developed the ability to not fall over.
  10. Just a quick question about the ref for the Chelsea game. Can we get an English ref as it's an all English game or do UEFA insit on a ref from another country?
  11. I think Alonso will play as he didn't last night and wasn't even on the bench. Momo was taken of after 50 minutes or so so can see him starting again. Kuyt will start as he only came on as sub and would imagine Fowler started, resting Crouch. It'll be interesting to see if Paletta does get a game, IMO I think it's definitely an option. I think Hyypia will also start and I wonder if Bellamy or Kewell may be on the bench.

    Reina

Reina's LFC career stats and info: -----------------PL--------------FAC------------LC--------------CL------------Other-----------Total -----------Apps---CS-----Apps---CS-----Apps---CS-----Apps---CS-----Apps---CS-----Apps---CS 05-06-----33------20-------5------2--------0------0--------13-----7--------2-------1-------53----30 06-07-----33------18-------0------0--------1------0--------11-----6--------1-------0-------46----24 Total------66------38-------5------2--------1------0--------24-----13-------3-------1-------99----54 Reina holds a Liverpool record for the fewest number of goals conceded by a 'keeper in their first fifty games. The previous record was held by Ray Clemence in 1970?71 for conceding only 32 goals, while Pepe conceded only 29. Reina kept his sixth consecutive clean sheet against Wigan Athletic F.C. in the Premier League to break the Liverpool club record for successive clean sheets in the Premiership era. He surpassed David James' record of five games from the 1996?97 season. Reina's incredible run ended at eight league games. In May 2006 Reina was awarded the Premier League's golden Gloves award for keeping 20 clean sheets in the 2005-06 season. His performances put him ahead of Manchester United F.C.'s Dutch keeper Edwin van der Sar (18) and the previous year's winner Petr Čech of Chelsea (17). Pretty impressive if you ask me especially as he's only 24 (25 in August).

Thanks but "American owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks are also keen to reward at least four of Liverpool?s Academy youngsters with contracts following their success in this year?s FA Youth Cup."

Anyone have an idea of who the 4 will be?
  16. I'd give him a chance tonight especially with Bellamy injured I wouldn't wanna risk both Kuyt and Crouch for the next 2 games with Chelsea next week and would like to see 2 up front. If we are gonna have all the possession this could be a game for him. Rafa does like to use his squad too and this is a game that Rafa may see as ideal for playing Fowler even if its for 60 minutes or coming on for the last 30. According to the BBC Kewell is not in the squad.
  17. If Fowler is fit and on his game and Boro are gonna sit back he can at least provide that bit of guile that could break down a stubborn defence or create that bit of space to put away a hlaf chance.

  19. Which is why I think we could see him in action either tomorrow or Saturday, maybe both.
  20. Australian Daily Telegraph Harry's dream return By David Davutovic April 17, 2007 12:00 LIVERPOOL are considering throwing Harry Kewell into the cut-throat Champions League semi-final against arch nemesis Chelsea. Instead of bringing him back in a low-key reserves match, Kewell's comeback could be on one of the biggest stages of world football and manager Rafa Benitez is believed to be eyeing off the second leg at Anfield on May 1. But former Reds manager Roy Evans warned against risking Kewell at this late stage of the season. "They've had him in cotton wool so far and maybe it's better to sit the whole season out and make a fresh start in August or September, that's what experience will tell you," said Evans, who is holidaying in Australia. "But when the big games come up like the Champions League, sometimes you take that risk. "He's fresh, which is sometimes an asset, but it's a big ask because it's mid-April and he hasn't played for so long." Kewell, who has suffered from septic arthritis, a bacterial infection in the joints of his left foot, has resumed full-scale training and has demonstrated to the coaching staff that he is ready to go, partaking in XI v XI games with the senior squad. Australia's World Cup physio Les Gelis has worked with Kewell on a daily basis and after wrapping him in cotton wool, they are now ready to set him free. The Reds travel to Stamford Bridge on April 26 but with Kewell's demolition of Chelsea in last year's FA Cup semi fresh in manager Benitez's mind, the Spaniard is toying with the idea of saving his big-game player, albeit short of match fitness, for the biggest of occasions. Evans, now John Toshack's assistant at Wales, believes Kewell can get back to his blistering best though and said the fact that none of the Reds players could hold down the left wing position had left the door ajar for Kewell's return this season. "If he can get himself into shape, Rafa will be delighted to use him because he's always going to have an impact," Evans said. "No one's really made that position his own. John Arne Riise's a fullback but he's been playing more up forward and he's enjoyed that luxury but Harry is an attacking force." Benitez has two opportunities to blood the 28-year-old before the first leg tie against Chelsea, in the upcoming home clashes against Middlesbrough (Thursday morning) and Wigan (Saturday). Socceroos boss Graham Arnold, who has not put any pressure on Kewell ahead of the Asian Cup, applauded Liverpool's cautious approach. "It's the right approach because they're making sure he's 100 per cent fit and not back on the field at just 75 per cent," Arnold said. "He's still so important to both Liverpool and Australia, look at the damage he did at the World Cup at 75 per cent. "He's ready to start and Liverpool are monitoring his progress right down to smallest detail, but they're making sure he's right so there won't be any recurrences. "He's got an outstanding physio in Les Gelis working with him all the time and a professional medical and sports science department at Liverpool."
  21. They might get in the box but who's gonna provide the width to get the balls in or that 10 yard killer pass? There could also prove to be a big gap between midfield and attack as the 3 CMs don't push on. It'll be a good formation to have if we nicked an away goal and wanted to shut up shop but would hope Rafa would be a bit more adventureous to begin with.

  23. Yes, but I'll get in first! If we beat Boro on Wednesday almost guaranteeing our CL status for next season, then I imagine they could well be rested if not they'll play.
