  1. For all the talk of players and transfer committees, there are times when regardless of how you got the players, you have to make the best of what you've got, be that through injuries, poor form, whatever. Rodgers has made a pigs ear of it this season after spending whatever, and you can't give a manager carte blanche to tear it up and start again after 3 years. After all, it seems he doesn't seem to be able make it work with the players he has bought in. You can point fingers at the TC, but the man himself says that he won't be dictated to.
  2. Absolutely. We had no European distractions last season, whereas 08/09 we reached the CL quarter finals after giving Real Madrid a prpoper spanking. If we get into the Europa next season, I just fear more of the same from Brendan.
  3. For all the talk of FSG and transfer policy, what about Rogers' inability influence games when we're struggling, apparent lack of preparation for the opposition, inability to spot a player, playing players out of position, tactical naivety, etc. We, as a club need a strong manager to help guide the owners. Obviously the fact they think they're smarter than everyone else and the fact that Ayre is nominally in charge is the obvious obstacle.
  4. Protecting his value. He'll be worth £50m when we actually want him.
  5. Come on Leo. This is different. We're seeing the same problems after two and a half years - do I really need to repeat the list? I had hopes over the last couple of weeks that he was learning and turning things around. He doesn't appear to be, does he? And if we finish 7th or 8th, is there even a debate ?
  6. If that's right about players being bought that aren't his first choice, then you have to have a certain amount of sympathy for him. However, he agreed to take on the job with certain preconditions. One being that buying players wasn't his responsibility alone. There are hundreds of managers out there, outside of England, for whom that is a normal part of life. These guys get paid more in a year than Joe Public might earn in 20 or 30. It's their job to adjust according to the players in the squad, injuries, suspensions, etc. Including players they don't want. Brendan has underused players and then we as fans slate them when they are asked to step in and they're "ring rusty". We keep being told that he's a better man manager than certain other managers who shall remain nameless, etc. How? Players not used and I would assume alienated as a result. The players look scared to play a pass. There's nothing in their play that says they're doing anything useful in training other than going through the motions. His record here says he can't spot a player any better than John Henry. His stubbornness in playing Gerrard in front of defence, not playing Lambert until he had no choice and then as one up top, leaving Lallana day on the bench and no strikers on the bench last night. Last week I wanted him to get help, today I don't think he can be helped.
  7. Question, rather them argument... It has to, doesn't it? He's fought for control from day one. He said previously that he has the final say. The last contract he signed gave him more power according to all the reports.... To me it seems that this transfer committee is not much different to the way it's been traditionally done...
  8. Come on Leo, this is his third season and he still hasn't fixed the defence. We don't have players to dig us out of a hole like Luis Sturridge did last season. Sturridge isn't likely to be back till after Christmas and then he'll need a while to get match fit. It took him until this week to realise that the Gerrard experiment wasn't working when we've all been screaming about it for weeks. Players he wanted to get rid of - Lucas this season and Henderson last season, put in good performances while his signings turn out distinctly average average or totally s***e. Stubbornness can be great if it works but it clearly isn't working. He needs help from decent assistants and he doesn't appear to realise that.
  9. You're talking b******s. Go back and have a look through all my posts and see where 'm being particularly critical. Oh wait... you already did that. So you should've worked out that I don't react like some on here after a s***e performance. I was actually getting sick of people having a go at certain individuals game after game after game, when it's obvious where things are going wrong and yet people on here still insist on blaming Skrtel and Lovren. But you carry on making ill founded judgements....
  10. Means nothing. For someone who wasn't trying to be argumentative... I wonder if Bill's quote about riots and graveyards could be applied to you... My original point being he needs an experienced coach to deal with defence and stop playing his favourites.
  11. Number of posts has bugger all to do with anything. Just because I choose not to post every 5 bleeding minutes, means f.a. Experienced coach in my post refers to assistant. Did I say MANAGER ????
  12. Isn't Sakho injured? Anyway, even if he wasn't, what are the chances he'd get a lookin under Rodgers? Rodgers has his favourites and will stick with them. He'll likely play Lucas on Wednesday along with Kolo+1 and we'll talk about how much better the defence was. The situation at the moment is a combination of things. No protection for the centre backs when Gerrard plays. Fullbacks bomb on to give width, leaving acres of space. Shocking level of defensive coaching. The performances are largely down to Rodgers, and it's been going on since day one. You can go out and buy any defender and he'll turn to s*** within weeks. Get an experienced coach and I'd bet the defence improves no end.
  13. I hope Rodgers is not involved in buying the players this January. I wouldn't trust him with another penny.
  14. We're better off with him sitting in his usual place next to Brendan.
  15. This content is not viewable to guests.
  16. Eejits, is who.
  17. Agreed, but its the comparisons I was talking about... It's just tempting someone to start going off on one... You know it won't be long...
  18. I think if comparisons are going to be made, I'd have to agree with Earl. However, why don't we just revel in the fact that we've been blessed to have the managers such as Shankly, Paisley, Fagan, Kenny (x2), Rafa and now Rodgers, when they were needed and who "got" the club. There's not many clubs around the world that have achieved what LFC have without petrodollars (insert other source), or government bailouts, etc
  19. Reina not only did the sweeper keeper thing brilliantly, but think about the number of times he would start attacks. With our current attack, his distribution would have contributed to an increase in our goal tally. He'd would be at least commanding the penalty area and allow us to play a high line.
  20. But, but, the game should be the same from top to bottom, it would slow the game down, [insert other bollix excuse], or something....
  21. That means they may not gazump us for Tom Huddlestone, after all.
  22. Keep up! Spurs are about to gazump us. The dirty mancs are monitoring the situation.
  23. Wait a few hours, Spurs will be in for him....
  24. Apparently we have no money...
  25. That's "Champions League Winner, Djimi Traore" to you....
