A super league of european or multi-national clubs isn't the only option. A Premier League in all but name with no more collective TV rights is a simple thing to set up. Serious businessmen are putting f***ing serious money into English football - they aren't all philanthropists and the current setup isn't generating much income - the opposite is true in fact.

Nothing to do with pulling the league apart. Just making the point that it can be pulled apart quite easily if the Turkeys start voting against Christmas. The Super League of Britain might be a non-starter, but why wouldn't the English Elite Football League Division 1 be a runner?

The first division became the premier league because people used that argument. It doesn't stand up because it presupposes that the status quo is inviolate. The Premier League sold their TV rights collectively. Would the Super League of Britain?

The Premier League is fast approaching a critical mass of foreign and "investment seeking" owners. Once that mass has been reached there will be the inevitable renegotiation of TV contracts on a club by club basis. That is where the real money is and that is why DIC are buying us. We have the second best earning potential for TV revenue worldwide as far as English clubs are concerned. That is the be all and end all of this takeover.
