I think making Gerrard captain would have a more positive effect on the player than making Terry captain would. He's that kind of bloke anyway, like Carra.

I can't see Berlusconi being happy with Ancelotti. I can't see Barca offering Mourinho a job, either. I'm not so sure if he'll willingly leave so soon. Why? He's not going to be paid as much elsewhere and he's never going to have it as easy in the transfer market. I could see Abramovich moving him along, though. He didn't become as rich as he is by throwing money away, so I can't see the spending continuing much longer. A billion is still a lot of money, even to someone with 12bn. He could have bought a huge tropical island and built Shangri La on it for that. He's a clever man, and he knows that there are a dozen managers out there who would win the league just as easily with his cash. If Mourinho doesn't bring the CL to Stamford Bridge soon, someone else will be given the chance.

Too right. This season we've really started to see the team make the other side their bitch, much as Valencia did to us in the CL. The Newcastle game at Anfield stands out for me in this regard. Okay, it's only Newcastle, but they hardly got near the ball. With a bit more quality in the side, particularly up front (where Houllier and Evans were so blessed), we're be a truly formidable side.

If I were Rafa, I'd snap the fat-head's hand off before his boss gets someone in with a clue. A striker has to be top priority. It would be interesting to see us with Pennant, Gonzalez, Striker X and Striker Y/Cisse. I think we'll be a lot more dangerous with some pace in attack, especially on the wings.

It would have to be Moro, wouldn't it? Fate practically demands it.
