  1. I am not one for singling players out but I thought Aurelio had his worst game for 2 years last night. He did absolutely nothing right and offered us zilch. Very disappointing
  2. Who cares, he was Madrid's best player. Had 4 good games after signing but wouldn't get a game for my Saturday team. No pace, no flair (after the first month) and a complete waste of a shirt. The only danger tonight

    Dossena

I have to agree. Insua is light years ahead of him. When he was running ahead of Hibbert, he couldnt even dribble the ball in a straight line which allowed Hibbert to catch him as he was all over the shop. Should have been shipped out in Jan as he is worse than Traore ever was.
  4. I think Johnson would be a great signing, especially if we can offload Dossena back to Italy for more or less the cost of Johnson. Arbeloa to LB and Johnson to Rb could be the difference between 1-0 wins and the hugely frustrating 0-0 draws we have experienced this year at home to poor sides
  5. I would definitely be looking to get Nemeth involved in the 1st team squad in these types of games, maybe the last ten mins or so if the game is won. He definitely has more of a future at Liverpool than El Zhar in my opinion
  6. Good luck JAR, Not the greatest player but far from the worst also, played his part in our trophy successes over the past 5-6 years.

    Gareth Barry

Downing is playing for a poor team but is far from a poor player. I remember watching last year against the scum and he was excellent, best player on the pitch by far. This is why I think it would be a good signing. Gives good balance and has an excellent left foot
  8. Do you think he would stand up to the physicality of our league. With Bentley he wont need a year to get used to the league which would further our team towards a title challenge. However if Quaresma came in and hit the ground running (like Torres) we would probably be a better side still.
  9. With Hughes being allowed permission to speak to Man City, do you think we will be back in for Bentley. I hope so. We need somebody to dominate our set plays with quality
  10. Love or hate him, Mourinho is an excellent manager. fair enough he had Romans ££££'s at Chelsea but he did ok at Porto too if I am not mistaken. I wouldn't like him to be our manager but I do have respect for his record.
  11. I will be honest and say I did want him out around the turn of the year, but since the Barnsley defeat he seems willing to play stronger sides in every game and if he takes that into next season we might just be in touch come easter. However if he doesn't and we are already 15-20 points behind at xmas I think it would be time for him to move aside and let somebody else try
  12. I disagree, Utd have players like Fletcher, Park, O'Shea, Carrick etc who are on a par with those. You need a fair share of solid unspectacular players if you are to win the league. The difference between ours and theirs is that their poorer players play consistently to a fair level whereas ours have very erratic form when selected. I think Downing would be an excellent addition, a step up on all we have at the club for LM at the moment,
  13. Three yards out should have been keepers ball too. Between the pair of em we have made life 100000000 times harder next week
  14. This is the first time under Rafa where I have felt that we are going to play Utd and he truly feels we can win. Normally he is very very cautious in his approach to the big games with UTD, Chelsea & Arsenal, but with the new formation and the form the players are in (which may in part down to the rotation early on), I feel we will attack today (which I believe is the way to beat the scum) and come away with a 2-1 or 3-1 victory. Cannot wait now, just over an hour. Hope i am not feeling like I did at xmas after not creating a true chance after going one down
  15. I don't understand what he has to replace. When Alonso first came he never gave the ball away, every time he plays this season his pass completion rate is average at best (check out the opta stats if u dont believe me) he scores 1 in 30 games and he has about 2-3 assists per season for the last 2 years. I used to love Alonso but he has been poor for at least 18 months.
  16. Great win, great performance but I feel we need to buy a genuine set piece taker in the summer, We had umpteen corners and free kicks in dangerous areas but Aurelio & Gerrard's delivery into the box was very poor at best. Not a big deal but the Mancs & Chelsea get their fair share of goals from set plays and if we caould add 5-10 goals a season from set pieces it could make all the difference in those tight games at home when we need a goal. Gerrard is ok when a blast is needed at goal but delivery is poor 99% of the time.
  17. I have been of the opinion for the last few weeks that a manager change was needed, however I am now leaning towards giving Rafa another season. If he is backed in the transfer market this summer and he can get in 2-3 world class players in the positions we need, coupled with the likes of Babel, Lucas etc being fully tuned up to what is needed from the premiership, I feel we could challenge. If only he was stop the damned rotation of major players. If he keeps the spine of the team Reina, Carra/Agger/Skrtel, Gerrard & Masch, Torres & a great new signing. He can rotate the flanks as much as he wants and it shouldn't be too detrimental to our side. We could recoup plenty of cash by selling Alonso (who has offered us nothing for 18 months), Kewell (even if its just his wages we avoid paying), Aurelio, Riise, Carson, Voronin & 1 of Kuyt/Crouch. That should be a few million for him to bring in a partner for Torres if nothing else. (Benzema/Villa hopefully)
  18. I never post on here but............ I am sick of the pro-rafa people on here. We have got to the of final of the CL twice in three years which is admirable but the league form is as bad as I can think. Ten draws from 22 games (which it was) is absolutely shocking for a team of our standing and spending power. The manager is (whether you are in favour or against), completely clueless to what it takes to win our league, which is different to winning La Liga or Serie A etc. When we play Birmingham, Wigan we have to beat perform and beat them whereas in Spain the bottom clubs roll over and die and allow the big sides an easy passage. We are drastically lacking in areas of the team (both full backs are way past their best, Alonso is possibly the worst player in the last 2 seasons. We still lack a world class winger following Kewell's demise and when Torres is out we look toothless.) I feel that a new manager is needed but who I am not sure thanks to Mourinho allegedly going back to Barcelona. I personally would try Dalglish and Sammy Lee with Hyppia having a coaching role. I may be clinging to a false hope but no more than the hope of Rafa winning us a title which will NOT happen as he hasn't got the characteristics to achieve it
  19. I would take Masch 100% over Alonso. For the past 12-18 months Alonso's influence on the team has been minimal. Very few goals scored or created and he is far inferior to Masch in the defensive side to it. If Madrid are Barcelona could be interested him we could get a big chunk of cash and not weaken the side 1 bit
  20. Typical Americans
  21. Did you see his performances against us? 2nd rate show pony. I personally think that Jermaine Pennant and Babel/Benayoun will be our first choice wingers when fit this season. The 2 players I feel we should bring in are a spare CB and somebody to link the play behind Torres because Kuyt/Voronin are both very poor players
  22. There is no denying that Arsenal are possibly the best footballing team in Europe (maybe Barca), but they haven't won anything yet. The scum were playing as badly as we are now earlier in the season but a couple of jammy 1-0 wins has given them the confidence to turn it around. Once all these international breaks are out the way we might get to see the lads get some form and get a bit closer. We know that we are traditionally stronger after xmas so if we can keep in touch till then we may just knock off the points to at least challenge. We are 6 points off top and the top 2 play each other next week so hopefully we will be a bit closer come this time next week. I am having the same frustrating time as most on here but we aren't even in November yet, and for all the bad performances we are still in touch in all competitions (Only just in CL, but I still think we will do just enough with 3 wins) so lets just see where we are come May
  23. He does his FA coaching badges with Chelsea (or at least he was doing last season) so I am sure he is about the training ground. On a side note don't u think he is mates with Owen, gerrard etc so he would be in the know that way
