I've said before but I think those close title races had a big 'we can't keep doing this' impact on both Klopp and Guardiola.
After that 21/22 season they both then went out and bought big money strikers (Haaland and Nunez) that changed their style of play and I think it was with a view to try and avoid getting trapped in those attritional title run ins against each other by changing style and becoming more 'functional'.
In a way it actually had negative impacts for both teams (sort of). Whilst City went on to win multiple leagues they also shipped out a lot of the players who made the old style work and ended up with just Haaland upfront. Nunez was never quite good enough for us (even with a league title under his belt) and we moved away from the style that won us the league and CL under Klopp.
