I don't think Reina realised Xabi was so close - i was amazed Xabi was on the line - and couldn't react quick enough.

Whilst i thought it was a very good save, i thought Taylor made a better one from Xabi's free-kick. Reina had to react very quickly but the header was pretty much straight at him and although Taylor had more time and was able to position himself in preparation for Xabi's shot, it was still a very well hit freekick that should have gone in. A better example of Pepe's save was Seaman in the FA Cup Semi against Sheff Utd. Peschisolido is still sat there wondering how it didn't go in. And Schmeichel's career is festooned with saves like that. Pepe is brilliant, though.

And sometimes you run into a Jurgen Macho or Maik Taylor when nothing is going to get past them. It took a deflected Gerrard shot to beat Taylor tonight - at his best he's an unbelievable keeper. The save from Xabi's freekick was obscene. We should have won and didn't. Maybe if garcia has a few games under his belt he would have put away that chance but he didn't. Main concern about tonight is how we played against them when they had XI on the pitch. Positives were Kewell and Agger.

A typically poor performance from Rennie. If he doesn't think it's a foul on Garcia he has to book him for a dive...but he doesn't And the other incident was a blatant push in the back. Have watched most of the highlights of tonights games and you can see why players get so disgusted with refs. One ref cautions for diving, the other doesn't. One ref cautions for a handball in the penalty area but doesn't caution for a handball in midfield.
