Nah, honestly don't think so. Rafa would always shuffle around a bit for a game against such a poor side, as would any other top side manager. Voronin was ace against them at home, and was at least ok in the first half. Also playing him at right wing didn't exactly do him any favours. Don't think he's a gifted enough player so be switched around like that. Torres would have gotten away with it but then that would seriously weaken our forward line. As for the starting XI I would say it was the players performance more than team selection and tactics that got us into trouble today. Agree with the Hobbs thing though. Sami is a lot more fragile these days for us not having good backup on the bench. JAR as CB made me nervous as hell, but at leat we got him away from midfield that way

On the top of my head I think I can come up with at least 20, probably 30 ex liverpool players worse than Voronin. And I can only remember players from the early 90'ies and onwards. Not good today neither was Riise for instance. Babel was off, though I think he should have started alongside Fernando. Aurelio was so and so. Finnan rather poor for once. "one of the worst players ever to play for Liverpool" is a f***ing disgraceful and ignorant comment.

Ujfalusi i guess is a good defender however if we get a new CB I would more like us to sign a younger defender that could become Carra's long term replacement. Ujfalusi is roughly the same age as Jamie. Not sure we could sell Pennant for 7M. Not sure we could sell JP at all in january simply because is injured or will be coming back from a long term injury. Don't think Crouchy will be sold in January either. Unless we bring in another top class striker a la Villa (how I would love to see that!!!). Momo i think will leave though. But we would be extremely lucky to get 10M for him...

Ok so he might be able to pull it off. But how often does he shot with his left foot for us to know really? Remember Riise have scored a few goals (2,3 or so?) with his right foot before. I was trying to make a more general point: I do not expect our right-footed players to score stunners with their left foot 5 or 10 meters outside the box and further that the Riise lynch mob around here desperately are trying to find faults with him. Some of the slating posted about JAR here is justified, some is utter Norwegian Elkhound b******s and quite frankly bores me to death.

But would we really splash out big time on a new defender? I imagine we go for either a young lad who will grow into his role. Or just another "aged" backup only slightly younger than Hyypiä. In the short term we can manage with Sami and Carra. Also Arbeloa can play CB right? Hobbs anyone? I do think our attacking play suffers more from the absence of Dagger and the defensive play.

The lad is f***ing left-footed. Pointing out that he has got no right foot is ridiculous. Could anyone see Gerrard, Finnan etc. score with their left foot if put in the same (but obviously opposite) situation. Fernando might have pulled it off, probably no one else in the team. Pointed out before; Riise is a very good fullback. Would walk into any starting XI outside the top four i the prem. Defo has his limitations attacking wise. His shooting pissed me off big time on occasion (especially the uncalled for 60 yard efforts), as does his crossing. But then again so does Carra with his episodes of turning and standing over the ball for waaay to long.
