Houllier wasted a criminal amount of money, thats true. But, even then, when certain fans were questioning him and talking about gettting rid, they were shot down by the 'true fans'. In hindsight he should have gone earlier, I hope history is not repeating itself.

I would imagine that even if we were still being run by John Smith and Peter Robinson then Rafa would definitely be under pressure for results and performances. LFC should accept nothing but the best, and our domestic form under Rafa is nowhere near good enough.

With regards to Voronin, why did we need him? Just play Babel up front. Leto may only be a couple of million quid, but surely there is a young player in England who can do what he does? Same with Paletta. Sissoko will probably be sold and we will probably get decent money for him, but God knows how he is still so highly rated by Milan, Juve etc... I am just trying to point out that we have got loads of deadwood here now, they just have different names than when Rafa took over.

They obviously wouldn't be as good as they are now, he is frightening at the moment. They would definitely cope though, Rooney, Nani, Giggs and Tevez can create and score. We cant keep thinking this way, remember when we were saying take Cech, Terry and Lampard out and see what Chelsea do? Well, they have been missing them 3, plus Drogba, Carvalho and Malouda and they are doing OK aren't they? If we were without that equivalent, Reina, Carra, Agger, Gerrard, Torres and Alonso then we would be absolutely snookered. Our squad is not good enough throughout, its as simple as that. The only way we could cope would be if we had a perfect system where every player was just a cog in a well oiled machine, and we are far from that.

But, the squad that a prospective new manager takes over here would include A virtually finished Hyypia, Riise, Voronin, Kuyt, Crouch, Pennant, Kewell, Sissoko, Leto, Benayoun etc The very good players, Reina, Gerrard, Carra, Agger and Torres are spectacularly in the minority. I dont like comparing us unfavourably to United, but its hard not to. Looking through their team/squad I would say, maybe right back is a concern for them, not a major one, but somewhere that could be improved. Looking through ours, I see at least 5 positions where we need to improve drastically. This is the squad Rafa has built.

I agree with you here, away from is excellent, home form poor. We need both to be very good home and away. Its OK people making excuses for individual games, but looking at things and letting my head rule my heart, he is not doing a great job domestically.

I am not totally against Mourinho, but I think before you start calling for the managers head you need to think about the reality of what will happen if he does go.

Thats correct. The upheaval of changing manager will set us back another couple of years. All the Spanish in the club, players and staff, would most likely be replaced, well particularly the backroom staff. A new manager would want and need time to re-assemble 'his' squad, in's and out's, we would be another few years away from a realistic challenge, if indeed a challenge was coming, there is no guarantee the next manager would take us closer. Its pretty depressing either way. Wenger and Ferguson are just absolutely brilliant managers and will take some toppling.

We need a wide midfielder who can carry the ball at pace and produce something in the final third. We need a centre forward to partner Torres, someone who has a bit of guile and subtlety, but not a lightweight, someone who can control the ball and keep it in tight situations. We need a left back who is good defensively and can pick a pass too. We need a centre half. We need Agger fit ASAP. I hate playing fantasy football, but Ribery would be great for us. If Berbatov wasn't such a c*** he would be perfect too, maybe if he was our c*** I wouldn't hate him as much. Left back? Centre half? I really Luisao at Benfica
