I thought rosicky would be a good player for us to buy but can I point out that he has been pretty ineffective in the league so far (during the times I see arsenal play). he pretty much played his best for them today and unfortunately, against us. pires though, is a good example who drifts wide, creates and scores goals.

I left the forum a couple of hours and see that the loons have started posting again. We lose a game and suddenly everyone is crap. The only aspects Finnan lacks is flair and immense pace. I dont care about the flair part because hes not a damn winger and even without the fancy placcy tricks, he usually beats the first man and delivers the ball extremely well on EITHER foot with immense consistency. I am also not bothered about the pace part because his positional sense (when to defend and when to support an attack) is so good that he doesnt need that in his locker to play well. I dont give a rats a$$ how unspectacular or "lethargic" he plays or even how he looks like a hunchback while running, hes bloody effective and I wouldnt swap him for any rightback in the world. We will miss him when/if he eventually leaves us.

You are joking? Come back in a couple of days after you have cooled down and rethink that opinion. Carson is a 50/50, but Kirkland has done nothing in his professional career with us that even warrants that comment. Is correct. I agree with this.

are spurs fans really deluded or are they pretending to be? after reading the forum, you almost feel like you just carved out a victory against a title winning team. then you realise 2 seconds later, you are actually only talking about spurs. i think berbatov is an excellent player (wanted him here instead of kuyt) but they talk of him like hes the next messiah. and us being at full strength? its so convenient they forgot about kewell and momo.

I like the Alves and Barton or Nolan idea. Dont think its very pragmatic to be getting both alves AND richards. I would love for darren bent to come - esp when we were evaluating our striker options last summer. I think hes fantastic - not sure who he should replace though. And lastly, quaresma from porto. always liked his playing style and has a wicked right foot. he has loads more end product than ronaldo without the fancy tricks. hes probably a fantasy signing though, i think i heard somewhere on this forum before that rafa doesnt really rate him.

I sometimes dont really get with this Alves infatuation, why must every thread on pennant end up with a comparison with alves? We didnt get him, many were/are gutted, I was gutted, but lets move on and forget what could have happened and look at what we have now. Many speak with great certainty that Alves would have been a sure success in the premiership. Since when were we so sure new players would adapt to the league? Perhaps Kuyt, but Moro anyone? Would he have been the single shining light in the midst of our mediocrity? People write off pennant and gonzales but praise Alves in the same breathe. Were they not all Rafa's targets? I will admit he only came to my knowledge when Rafa mentioned him and after that awesome performance at the UEFA cup final. So if he did make a mistake of signing pennant/gonzales, what makes you think Alves wouldnt be a 13 million flop? I am sorely disappointed in pennant because I had high hopes of him when he signed. To me, he had all the right attributes of a winger, pace, good touch, and a consistent crosser of the ball. Up till today, he has only shown glimpses of it. I am uncertain if he will live up to expectations, but at least I am willing to wait until the end of the season to pass judgement.

not sure if i like that. do you ever notice Kuyt's tendency to only cross the ball with his right foot? i dont know if hes entirely comfotable there. playing on the left and popping up on the flanks to serve as an outlet is quite different...

for sure, buying pennant was such a HUGE mistake as he hadnt been able to contribute any assists at all and that alves would have instantly adapted to the premiership and set the world alight at a ludicrously low price of 14 million pounds.

Err, does that mean hes gonna be out for months?
