    Upgrading the left attacker is bottom of the list. Two very good options there in Gakpo and Diaz. Gordon is not an upgrade on either, anyway

    Can't believe VAR watched the replay of that challenge and didnt immediately ask the ref to look at the monitor. I can see - as you say - why the ref didnt give it as he was a long way from the action. Either way, it wouldnt have been a penalty would it given the whistle had already gone for the earlier infringement so the ball was dead. is that right?

    A good old-fashioned leg breaker, just part of the game So, the ref could have given a red to pickford (had he seen it) and VAR could also have asked the ref to look at the monitor?

    I think he's one of the players who has made a massive contribution to our season. I take your point he isnt the finished article, but there is much to his game that is key to how we play. In a dream world he's competing with another number 10 for a starting place but we are miles off that. At the moment he's competing with Elliott, who has made 0 starts. It is clear it will be Elliott who gets sold and upgraded, and rightly so. Hopefully the Elliott upgrade will increase competition
