Great strikers do create chances for themselves, as well as finish. I'd like to see more of that and more of him helping create chances for others as well.

He needs to play at a club at his level and work his way up in fitness by playing regular games. that's part of the problem - he thinks he's better than he is. he's still young enough to have a good career but he needs to be playing. he can't have started more than about 3 meaningful games in the past 2 1/2 years and the not playing may well have an impact on his mental health. it must be horrible always sitting on the sidelines

this was absolutely clear last year too. one of the main reasons i found the relentless vitriol aimed at slot hard to understand.

Slot wasnt a disastrous manager. Ridiculous the way all the players get a pass for last season. Slot struggled with a lot of issues last year, not least an imbalanced team, a weak squad, poor full backs, long term injuries, the fall out from Jota. He failed to have us playing good football, and we lost too many matches, so it was right that he went. But Iraola will have to work hard to overcome some of those same issues. I'm not giving up on Wirtz but it's mad the number of caveats and excuses made for him.

I love talented young players - see Jacquet. I think Nyoni looks really promising. But I don't go overboard on someone just because they are young, which is a ynwa trait. I'm not actually saying Munoz is a bad player. Far from it. He looks ok. But he looks a strange signing - as in, why prioritise a squad wide player over sorting out full back or centre mid. I agree that he was far from alone yesterday. Defence and keeper won us that game, and one bit of brilliance by Gakpo. I really want Wirtz to work out. I just expect a lot more from him.

Wirtz is a playmaker who has so failed to deliver anywhere near the level we hoped for. I am not judging him on how hard he works or runs, but on how often does he create things and make things happen. That's what he's there for. The other players get plenty of criticism. I'll be expecting way more from Barcola but he's only been here 5 minutes. Early days, but he looks the real deal. Particularly good to have someone in defence who can pass the ball through the lines. And he also seems to enjoy defending too. Some great blocks and anticipation yesterday. Seeing how he plays, I see why we didn't bring Stones in as an option.

I'd like to see him do a lot more and play a lot better. He cost £120m and he should be a big part of making us terrifying to play against. That said, his finishing is the most important thing.

how is Elliott relevant? I would hope he's considerably better than someone who isn't premier league level. Yep. Iraola has to get the best out of him. That's literally his job.

That doesnt quote the actual source of the data though. I looked on opta and the PL websites and can't see a record of running stats. I'd be interested to see it.
