Not really. Whilst a lot was propbably made up by him, there is no denying that there was contact and dialogue between Kraft and Parry. My question to NYR, who seems to be in the know to an extent, is what was the exact nature of the dialogue.

OK, I've read 150 odd pages on the subject, and this is really doing my head in, yet I cannot keep away. For whats its worth, here are my thoughts. I was never really happy with the DIC bid. In a perfect world I wanted Moores to stay in place, and somehow find the money needed to fund the new stadium, and at the same time allow Rafa to sensibly compete for top players (by sensibly I mean not Chelsea style). Moores is a fan, he truly loves the club, and he doesn't meddle with its running, nor does he make a fool of himself. DIC, on the other hand, whilst reportedly being fans too, are a business, and they looked at the purchase from a business point of view - be it to raise the profile of Dubai or to sell at a profit in a few years' time. Nonetheless, I was slowly coming around to accepting what seemed as inevitable, and I took comfort in the idea that new money would be pumped into the club - both for the essential stadium project and for transfers. I realized that a top manager like Rafa, continuously courted by the likes of Real, would not hang around for much longer unless he is allowed to compete with the continent's other big clubs. Suddenly, DIC are gone, and Gillette and Hicks are poised to become the new owners. For me, the reservations I had for DIC have been replaced with reservations for Gillette and Hicks. As far as I am concerned, there is not much difference between the two. Both clearly regard the takeover as a business transaction; both intend to finance the takeover to a certain extent through loans; both have a great deal of money at their disposal, yet how much of it they will actually invest into the club we don't know. Basically we are in the dark. No one knows for certain - Parry and Moores included - how the club would be under either ownership in 5 years' time. Only time will tell, but in the meantime, the new owners - whoever they may be - deserve the benefit of the doubt; they deserve the fans' support, just like any new manager and any new player, for that is the Liverpool way.

You said in another thread that Kraft would have been the ideal owner, and I for one agree. What I am unsure about - mainly due to the fact that it is hard to differentiate the fiction from the fact - is the extent of Kraft's actual negotiations with the club. Was he definitely interested? Was he actually close to making a formal bid? A lot of rubbish gets circulated on the net, and Fat Dunk from Kraptalk led his readers to believe that Kraft walked away since he insisted on full ownership of the club whilst Moores at the time was only interested in selling part ownership (similar to the Thai deal). Any truth to this? If so, how come Kraft wasn't back on the scene once Moores came around to the idea of a complete sale?
