I don't think anyone would say that, across the board, he has been a poor captain. There have been many instances of him leading from the front and winning matches as captain. I would argue that the captain should be the captain well beyond the pitch and this is where, personally I do, some people have a problem with his personality, as demonstrated by his public actions. He is not a natural leader of men, he is a great player, but not someone with the charisma (and of course I don't know the bloke personally, so can only go on reported actions and perceived attitudes) to motivate through anything rather that sporting action.
