So........ why don't we play with that intensity all the time then. We'll be knackered at 75 mins and the 11 on the pitch at the end will look awful. -

Side note but Osimhen's back story is incredible. What he's been through as a kid to get where he's got to. -

Or the actual RB politely sitting on the bench as every midfielder is tried there ahead of him, despite him politely sat there on the bench in the matchday squad. But do we want to with PSG next? The correct answer to that is of course yes! As the comments from Slot before and after each game will be illuminating. -
Did everyone listen to Pep talking about Klopp's Liverpool being the hardest challenge he's ever faced, when he was challenged about the repeating tests with Madrid? Makes you smile and sad all at once.

Oh yeah, don't get me wrong I love Wirtz, but as a unit that Newcastle 3 felt unstoppable at times last season. I really admired the unity and functional quality of it, reminded me very much of Hendo, Gini and Fabinho. I always maintain that winning midfield is the most important starting point for any side. Our defence looks poor this season largely because they are exposed so much. Equally, our attacks are not obvious chances as our midfield is not winning and recycling the ball quick enough. A good case study in my mind was when we lost all our defenders under Klopp for almost a season. We didn't actually concede that many, but we just didn't function and couldn't score. That wasn't because Virg and others were missing, it was because our midfield wasn't working as Hendo and Fab were in defence. My main reason for Liverpool being s*** right now is our midfield, it's empty with no plan or patterns, which of course is entirely Slot's fault and for some reason he can't see it.

Not dead. Back training today on the pitch on his own.

They've had a lot of disruptions from injuries and bedding in new signings too. The established players in midfield and up top are still very good though. Maybe i'm mad, but I'd take Tonali, Guimaraes and Joelinton over Macca, Grav and Wirtz. A three of Dom, Guimaraes and Tonali with Gordon left forward would transform our team.

Everyone was either very happy or at least quite confident with the signings in the summer and the signing of Slot. The fact that it hasn't worked out seems largely down to Slot and his coaches and their ideas about how to play in the Premier League. We still made some great signings and under a different coach this team, with two or three additions and a different style of play, can still be a force to be reckoned with next season.

Newcastle are in such a predicament. They can't spend the money they have so can't qualify for CL. All their top players will start to look elsewhere. There's no way Tonali, Guimaraes, Gordon, Joelinton or even Barnes will want to stay too long. I'd happily have most of them to be honest, they all run and compete!

He was probably thinking Virg and Robbo should deal with this, then panicked when they didn't. -

Agree on Macca. He's lost most games.
-
Listening to him talk after the game, he's not actually seeing the game we are seeing. He still thinks we press high. He still thinks it's long balls against us and doesn't see teams just walking through our midfield. We lose control in midfield every game, exposing our defense, and he's completely blind to it.

We should have finished the game with Grav and Jones centre mid with Dom in front. Gomez right back and Konate on. Awful subs. Macca was knackered. Nyoni replacing Gakpo was mental. -

We make every team we play look their best version of themselves. Our midfield is chaos. -

Boom Awful. Nyoni at left midfield when Gakpo was doing just fine? Weird. As for Jones basically playing up front.. -

I know, but options.. I'd prefer Salah central personally, could have had my dream smallest front 3 ever fielded. -
Tiddly winks is more competitive and more stressful than you think.
