True but it was a run of the mill ball and any keeper should handle that. I thought Neville's looping back pass in the 1st half from half pitch was potentially more dangerous.

You also need a keeper who is positioned to get to a back pass and let's face it such a backpass was never going to be of any concern bar a fluke or a howler by the keeper.

Are you serious? When you play a back pass it depends on where your goaler is and how alert to the situation he is. Neville rolled the ball back, he did not shoot at goal. It is a keeper's duty to have it covered. Yes ideally the backpass is not played where a goal can be conceded but a keeper is mostly placed in such a position.

Anyone ever noticed that Lampard rarely hits a good shot when on the run? His goals are mostly either freekicks, shots teed up for him or him getting into a good position in and around the box when the ball drops (his best attribute). Gerrard on the other hand is not as good as Lampard in pouncing on a chance but he creates more chances for himself. He can beat defenders and whack in a shot which Lampard never does.

Robinson was at fault for the 1st and was not exactly very reactive in this one too. However it is a freak goal and most keepers would be caught out by such a bobble. Still.......great goal Gary!
