Watching the game last night and in an attempt to clear the negative thoughts from my mind I found myself thinking of alternative careers for our players based solely on their character/appearance. I don't know how it happened or why but my list: Garcia - Hairdresser Gerrard - Mechanic Bellamy - painter/decorator Alonso - teacher Fowler - Taxi driver Carra - unemployed but living comfortable Finnan - Accountant Riise - Factory line assembly type job Agger - Student with Rock star aspirations Hyypia - IT Kewell - Clothes shop worker/part-time barman I could go on

Yes, that was what i was getting at. Our players who pulled our average age and appearances up didn't offer us. Where as you take Fabregas and Toure their relatively inexperienced players (in terms of age or eppearances) they are at top of their age and bring bags of ability. Ability can be lost in stats.

It wasn't foggy (or was that a negative!)
-
For a 21 year old to have 74 appearances is not inexperienced to me. Take Fowler, Hyypia and Dudek out Liverpool stats and it would be a fairly low average appearance. These players who are at the opposite end of the scale from most players on show last night i.e at end of careers and are limited in what they can offer.

Agree with the majority of this. To me the Arsenal lineout had far more balance - youth beside experience i.e our whole right side was inexperienced with about a dozen appearances between them. Arsenals team have been by and large been on the fringes of the first team this season and have premeirship experince e.g Hoyte with Sunderland for the whole of last season, Aliadere (or whatever) was with West Ham last year, Baptiste has played La ligue and CL, the Swiss CB Djourou wnet to the world and has played premiership. Yet for the first half hour they never got a kick of it. Our goals conceeded were all poor defensivley. We need time to get the young players through. Wenger has had 10 yrs plus to get his youth policy right. Rafa has been at it for 2 yrs plus and has made a start. Judge him at the end. I'm sure he knows that the players aren't good enough, yet. What most people are idsappointed about is that he fielded a second string team. It was a gamble it didn't work. When we beat Spurs last year with a weaker team, he was a great fella and was making great decisions. Last nights performance should serve as motivation for the rest of the season. Nail in to the dressing room in Melwood and let the players involved and not involved put it right.

Merson's laugh at the suggestion we could beat Barca was arrogant and it should be played to every liverpool player. It had me vexed and Jamie, in fairness, did seem rattled by it and he didn't hesitate to bite back at Merson. Hairy hands was his normal smug self, all excited at the thoughts of him and gray having a right rattle in the tatics truck.

If ever there was a case to increase the day tripper allocation and decrease season tickets this is it. Do you think the RTK people will go for this? I'll make banner "Daytrippers=Scarves=RTK"

One of the great football mysterys was also in Gerards book. In his first England training session he raves about the training and quality of players on show. He talks about the things players do in training and how amazing they are and that some of these things the players do are unreal and unbelieveable. Footballers always seem to talk about these things players do at training, particularly when they join a new club or get a national call up. The mystery for me is: a) Why do they not repeat these amazing things in matches on a more regular basis, as they seem to do it an awful lot in training. b) Has anyone ever caught these amazing tarining sessions on film? Rant over. Book is average at best - is Chinese whispers in the dark really as good as he made out? Footballers should only write books when they finish.

999 YEAR LEASE!!! Think about the Children. In the year 3005 we're out on our arses or held to ransom by the Liverpool City Corporation who will send Robocop round to evict Rick Parry Jnr the 35th. Dommed I tell ya, doomed.

Should never have sold John Welsh!!

Any word on when the training gear and other Adidas gear will be released? No sign of it on the net anywhere. .tv did do a preview of it one day but since then nothing.

The red jersey has great healing powers for returning strikers. Fowler was injury prone at Leeds and Man city but since he came back, not a headache. Bring the lad home. Because he's worth it.

Guess who's availability was enquired about on Monday?
diggy replied to Mikael Akerfeldt 's topic in Liverpool FC
British club you say? Has to be Swansea. They have just lifted the League trophy thingy and Lee Trundle told them he could swing Carra Swansea's way with his love of practical jokes and flag/t-shirt collection. Swansea - the revolution starts now! -

Saw a programme on BBC2 not so long back about the fake sports gear. It was about police raids on market stalls and the import of the stuff from Asia. They linked up with Umbro's topman for preventing the stuff reaching the market and he got a contact in Asia and give them fake designs of the new England away kit so that they would start producing that before the real one was realeased. It worked and they started to produce the one he ordered from them but over in Asia he and the Thai police raided a company of the factories making the gear. He could only prevent them from making the Umbro stuff and took it of them. While in one of the factories it showed them making the "new" liverpool strip and it was the second one of them pictures. So its defo fake and maybe Adidas threw them a bone like Umbro have done?

The matchings on ITV teletext are entertainment. All the Liverpool backline and keeper got six. Midfielders got mostly sevens, maybe Stevie got 8 and crouch got a 6. (Maybe be a little off but believe they were ungenerous) Looked at the Birmingham ratings. Taylor got a 5, one below Reina. The defenders got 5 and 6's. The only one to get a 4 was Forrsell. In summary Liverpool players rated on average 1 better than their opposing player. The match rater must have been watching it on teletext. Or is a Manc.
