Kuyt is not good enough and never will be and I've been saying it since he arrived. He's out of his depth at Liverpool and he's playing like he knows it as well. Poor 1st touch, little vision or passing ability, no pace - not good for a striker!
-
Could be Kuyt you're talking about there!
-
Couldn't agree more, the opinion that he's the best partner for Torres doesn't make him a good player - I actually think Crouch would be given time - just means he's better than the others we have. For me both him and Momo are massively overrated by Liverpool fans because of their ridiculously high workrates. I'll repeat what I've said on here many times, Kuyt can't trap a bag of cement.

I'm pretty sure that the £17M quoted for Masch includes some if not all of his wages over the period as well, the figure reported at the time was £10M. Masch is well worth that to us, as said we would get most if not all of it back on Momo abd I'd do the deals in a heartbeat. Regarding Lucas he looks like he's going to be some player.

In the purchase of Berbatov?........or in general?
-
Rush was better than Fowler - no slight on Robbie - he was better than everyone apart from Van Basten. As a striker he's the best I've ever seen live, and the best we've had for over 30 years. Genuine World Class.

Adebayor was as bad when he brushed against Sami in a challenge and then rolled around holding his stomach. Its bloody embarassing to watch.
-
See he's just not going to really. Yes he works hard, yes every now and again he controls the ball well or makes a good run/pass. He's actually a very limited, extremely fit footballer who is never going to get much, if any, better. Crouch looked far more of a threat when he came on than Kuyt + Voronin did all game. And you're all guessing that Rafa told them to play defensively - did he also tell them to miscontrol almost every ball, misplace almost every pass, and generally F))) up any decent attacking chance we had? They were still better than Riise, and no - Kuyt isn't near the top of our list of problems, 50% of the fit back 4 and the manager are currently far above him. Don't mean he aint very good though.

Xabi & Torres have both aggravated their injuries
Mikey replied to LondonLiverpoolFan 's topic in Liverpool FC
He was appalling mate, both defending and going forward. I fail to see why we work so hard as a team to get the ball off Arsenal only for Morons like Riise to hoof it straight back to them! I was warned for swearing in my own pub because of him. -
Right, been busy/away so here goes. Reina - should have done better with the goal, otherwise pretty faultless. Finnan - not bad, tried to get forward and pass to one of ours. Carra - worked, battled, defended great, pants with the ball. Sami/Jar - Gash, complete waste of space, give the ball away EVERYTIME. Appalling waste of possession. Riise couldn't hit a red shirt with a shotgun. Gerrard - MoM. Alonso - did well, still obviously injured. Masch - 2nd MoM. Torres - shouldn't have been near the pitch. Kuyt/Voronin - Ran round a lot, poor control, poor vision, poor passing. Little or no attacking threat. Couldn't trapa bag of cement between them. Crouch - did more in 20 mins than the other strikers put together. Benny - why didn't he start instead od Voronin? Arbeloa - A CB who plays out of position as FB very well, asked to play out of position against one of the best midfielders in the world. Rafa - poor team selection, poor tactics, left his substitutions too late. We worked hard as always but until we play players who can hold the ball it's always going to be tough against teams like Arsenal.

Everton at Goodison, play the tallest team possible and I'm not joking either. Freekicks and corners, they must score most of their goals from them. Play Sami, (try to fit Agger in as well if he's fit), Riise and Arbeloa Gerrard, Alonso if fit, Sissoko, torres and Crouch/kuyt!
-
Regardless of whose fault his injuries are, maybe he's a poor trainer etc, his LFC career should be over soon and we can move on to who is going to be our long term LM/LW. As for him playing for a new contract I bet he is, where else is he gonna get £50K a week for nothing??? Ecstatic when he signed, as good as anyone on his day, lost his pace and I think lost the will to get properly fit. No I don't know him personally either.

Thats quite funny really as at the top end of all sports the only difference between the winners and losers is the confidence to deliver their best under pressure - Its all about confidence. How many times do we hear that someone has looked great in training but played cr@p in a big match, do you think its just a coincidence???
-
I've been a defender of Pennant on here but he's been rubbish the last few games for sure!
-
If we win today we will be 2 points behind United with a game in hand, and 4 points behind Arsenal not exactly a F'in crisis is it???? And we will win today!

Did we make the improvements neccesary this summer
Mikey replied to Bootle Buck's topic in Liverpool FC
I think we easily have a good enough squad to win the league this season, and I think Rafa has bought the best players he could out of those who were genuinely available(Mancini just trying to get a better deal off Roma) and wanted to come here(Malouda to Chelsea). We needed a top class LW or RW but really there were none available worth the money - does anyone really think that Alves is worth £20M+ or Quaresma £18M+??? Not you Kaizer! The big change for me now needs to come from Rafa, pick the right sides to play against the right teams, stop 'resting' Torres in the PL, apart from the other top 4 sides away from home send the side out with the intention to play the opposition off the park. Apart from Man U, Chelsea and Arsenal away we should be looking to dick the rest home and away, if we slip up the odd game so what? -
Do you think we are going to offer him a new contract as his ends in the Summer? Assuming we are not demented and don't, then he has to be replaced anyway whether it costs a packet or not. I think Crouch will go, Babel will play more as a striker and a new LM/LW will emerge/be signed. HK's gone, and I'm a great fan of his, but his time as a top quality footballer has ended. No decent side will take a chance on getting 10 games a season out of him on the wages he's gonna want.
-
Pleased he's not playing the next game and will be rested for our game at Portsmouth, personally wish SG hadn't made it for England either, I would prefer us to win our next 4 games and England and Spain get knocked out if thats what it takes. If you don't like it then kiss my a***.
-
Taylors a good player, and I've been saying for over a year that Sami could be replaced.........but there's something about Sami that is SO Liverpool and I'd hate it if we do win it and he wasn't here! After Richards, Taylor is possibly the best young English defender out there. Wouldn't touch Heinze with yours.
-
I love Torres and I'm sure many on here remember the general dersiion when I said that I'd prefer him to Eto'o. Owen was better than Torres, Owen was FAR better than Kuyt, Crouch and Voronin - and Cisse and Baros etc, etc, etc. He was European footballer of the year in 2001 when he was just 21/22 - a F****** baby, He was bloody brilliant. Owen of that period would walk into any team in Europe, and we would obviously play him and Torres up front together and decimate sides. And I'm so bored now with having to defend him, it's a disgrace. I never married Vicki McKenzie and I should've but even I'm over that now!!!
-
So Giggs wouldn't get in??? Still the best LW in the PL at 34. Tevez wouldn't displace Kuyt???? Everyone on here, bar a few of us, wanted him more than life itself. Eagles wouldn't displace Gerrard???
-
He's got an absolute cannon in both feet. I don't think he's the answer long term for LM/LW but he was the best player available at the time, Ribery gone - Malouda being a Chelsea player already(diving t***), unless we forked out ridiculous money for Quaresma and took a huge gamble with over £20M. When we play him in the wide positions we look to be playing more of a 4-3-3 than a 4-4-2. I see him and Torres being our strikers in years to come as a partnership.
-
To make sure they got him, and look how its turned out.
