I know what you're saying but Torres has been doing it in the best/2nd best league in Europe for 5 years as well as at international level for spain. No-one, and I mean no-one, wanted Tevez 12 months ago and the suggestion that we would pay more than about £8M for him would be laughed out of here. Now, after the aforementioned good 2 months he is the next missing link(as well as looking like it) and well worth £30M!!!!!
-
Proven in the last 2 months of the season and costing £30M you mean?????????????
-
He's not 'old' though is he, and for 4 or 5 years he was probably the best No 10 in world football. If he's still got it, or even 50% of it he could be outstanding in a top side for a couple of years yet. FWIW I don't think Rafa wants him.
-
We'll miss the goals for sure, but he wasn't 1st choice in any position even before he got injured, and we're looking to significantly strengthen the squad in the positions he plays in. I also think his complete inability to retain possession has been largely forgotten due to the length of time he has been out injured - he couldn't hit another player in the same shirt as him with a shotgun at 20 yards in a lot of games. Contributed a lot during his short time here, true he never hid(more the pity sometimes), and was a great finisher with his head as well as his feet - but "World class" - "Our only creative player"??????? He's also going for such a small amount because he can sign a precontract in January for nothing, and we are trying to convince Athletico to sell us their best player and captain against their fans wishes,so currying a little good favour doesn't hurt. Thanks Luis and sincere best wishes for your success in Madrid mate.

If we do get Torres and Tevez, and we aint got either of them at the moment, there is no way Kuyt and Crouch will both stay. It is impossible to really keep 3 strikers happy, especially when we will play a few games next season with just one recognised striker, let alone 4; this is before you start looking at the costs of buying and then paying them all. And your midfield collection with up to 9 possibilities in it, do you really think so?????

If we don't have pots of money to cover all positions then I agree with you. While long term I agree with Mike and want to see Gerrard played centrally, if we only have enough money for one top class winger then for me its vital that he is comfortable on the left and is a freekick specialist. Since Xmas Pennant has been far better on the right than anyone has been on the left, and we can carry next season with him and Stevie as long as we have extra threat from up front and the left side. If Luis is gone, I'm not going to miss his general play but he certainly scored his fair share of goals and they will need replacing from somewhere. Suppose he'll be drinking plenty of Sangria now. And The Mirror has quotes from Malouda wanting to go to Chelsea and play with Drogba again - so cross that one off the list.

Are there any sketches or renderings of the new, new stadium?

Isn't one end open in the first image????? -
Not as much as we would have done if we'd signed Rivaldo, shirt sales would have paid for him and his wages!
-
And for those of us not familiar with Spanish radio stations that means?
-
Can we all please agree that if we do sign big names we are not going to moan at paying £25M for them? Henry is 30 and been injured for a year, Klose is similar age and has 1 year left on his contract and I believe Toni is around the same age? If we do sign Torres, he could play for us for 10 years you know!
-
But he did and could do so again which is why £9M would be a steal. When he won the European footballer of the year in 2001, Zidane, Figo, Ronaldo were all at their peak as was Shevchenko, and I defy you to name a group of the best 3 or 4 strikers in the World at that time and not include him without getting laughed out of town. Starting to think you're just a WUM.
-
Faster than Villa and just about everybody, skilful, two good feet, strong in the air, good finisher and creates for others as well. If there's any footage of his games for Spain at the WC, he looked the best proper striker there, none of this arty-farty non-scoring No 10 rubbish. He really could kick on and be the best striker in the World in a copuple of years - he's bloody good as it is.
-
I SO want Torres - in a straight, talent appreciative kind of way obviously. I'm convinced he will be the next 'superstar' striker in World football.

JAR to Newcastle being talked up on SSN, anything concrete to it or are they just registered on here do we think?

This s**** keeps getting spouted on here and its doing my head in!!!!!!! Owen is a great finisher, a good header of the ball for someone so small, has great reflexes and reaction times as proven by his 1st goal against Arsenal in the F.A.cup final, the ball dropped and he's roofed it before anyone else even moved. He was masively competetive, never-ever hid, scored in big games against big teams etc, etc, etc. Cisse is a very fast runner who can kick the ball very hard. Michael Owen was, and still could be, a genuine World Class striker. Lets not deny what was obviously true because we're still a bit p1ssed off that he left eh?

I know mate, but this will descend into a slanging match it does every time! Kaizer will start producing stats about where most of our goals are conceded from and everyone else will jump on him, and the thread will get closed.
-
Can someone please get this back onto transfer rubbish! We've done this Riise stuff to death. FWIW I think he's OK, no more no less.
-
My God, everyone's a winner!

Thats the standard we should be looking for though isn't it, Richards is an England international by 19. I think Antwi has a chance, he is physically a monster.
-
Can anyone confirm that the plans and designs are being released on the 30th June still?
-
Out of the list you produce there, the only player I would be sad to see go is Crouch, and if he went to get Torres I could live with it. Of the others, Cisse, FSP & Gonzalez are clearly never going to get a game even if they stay at the club; Sissoko never made the bench for the CL final; Garcia seems a better player when he's not playing because everyone forgets how dreadful he is at keeping possession; Bellamy is leaving anyway; so whats the problem? If you sell them all and don't buy anyone in the only position we are weaker in than this season is up front.
-
So who was he with then mate?
-
With Arsenal crumbling, should we buy some of their youngsters?
Mikey replied to urban's topic in Liverpool FC
I'd have Van Persie, Fabregas and Clichy. Fabregas is already world class and is going to be simply outstanding. He will end up at Barca I'd imagine though.
