    I've not been able to warm to him until today, but thought he was brilliant. Kept showing for the ball and won a few physical duels, which I don't think he was doing either of enough previously this season. Great performance!

    Made up for Henderson that he's become the player that he has. Always struck me as a player who works really hard on his game. That goal today was absolutely brilliant.

    Looked to me that BR liked the way we looked in the 2nd half at Southampton when we pulled the wingbacks further back, and decided that was the way to get a clean sheet against Besiktas. Would have worked too if Sturridge/Sterling hadn't have both been awful last night. And Lallana - I still don't see it with him.

    Brendan knows Besiktas far better than we do. He's obviously going to put out a side to win the tie, and that side doesn't have to be as strong as a side that can beat Man City. So I'm not too worried.

    But wasn't the action of the goalkeeper trying to get to the ball, which he didn't do, which then created an obstruction for Rooney?

    I always thought obstruction in the box was an indirect FK. Shows how s*** of a ref I'd be!

    If there's no contact and it's just a players run being impeded, isn't that just obstruction and an indirect freekick in the box?

    Usually I'd say no, but in Lallana's case I think it will. Based on nothing at all really.

    Don't get Lallana playing in this. He's not been very good, and his midweek interview suggests he's going to be very conscious of how the Southampton fans react to him.

    Shocker. By the time he actually made contact with the ball then it's probably being saved even if it's on target. My issue with him was that he took an hour to get to the ball, bravery was nowhere to be found. Very similar situation to Johnson's goal earlier in the season where he took a smash to the head, this time I thought Lallana bricked it.

    Sturridge does like to have a bit of a huff when things don't go his way. Thought he was greedy on a few occasions tonight, but I suppose most great strikers are.
