Right now with Newcastle in the top 4, they can gamble in January and see who they can attract in to keep them up there, and right now is not the time to be dropping out the top 4 once Newcastle establish themselves like City. You probably have 7 clubs now chasing the top 4, Us, City, Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs and Newcastle
