I don't think a boycott is realistic. Not of home matches, at least. I think the number of fans willing to step in and fill any void is too large. I've been to every home CL game for the past few seasons, but after failing to get a ticket for the first home game this season, I've managed to get to none this year. I've also failed to get any tickets to Premiership games. If a load of people boycott a home CL match, that may be my chance to get to a game this season. Whether I would, I don't really know. I'd like to think I'd show solidarity with the protesters, since I am similarly pissed off at Hicks. But the prospect of finally getting a ticket to a home game is attractive. As for a merchandise boycott; well, I'm not going to tell my 5-year-old he can't have a new strip, and in any case merchandise is a low throughput channel, unlikely to make much of an impact isn't it? Any merchandise boycott would have to be orchestrated on a grand scale, and continued for a long period before it'd be noticed. A few hundred forum users (or even a few thousand) not buying a new shirt one season probably doesn't amount to much, not when the majority of fans in the UK probably don't visit Liverpool fora and will be blissfully unaware of any such drives. I understand the rationale behind the boycott ideas, but putting it into practice is another matter.
