Joao Felix is like one of those 5-year-old iPhones for sale for a grand in CEX. There's some sort of money laundering s*** going on but I'm not sure what it is
They're into PR territory now though, they need a story they can spin their fans, YouTube compilations to get excited about. Two sensible signings from mid-table clubs won't keep the hordes from the gates.
I think it's only Sesko or maybe Watkins that could save face for them.
He only signed a new contract in January so this is weird, he misses a hell of a lot of games as well:
24/25 160 days 31 games
23/24 41 days 8 games
22/23 113 days 23 games
21/22 68 days 17 games
20/21 81 days 21 games
I don't think we have the scope to bring in anymore foreign players over the age of 21 do we?
This seems like a new and important piece of information though:
It is true that some people with strong connections to Newcastle believe this to be pivotal in turning Isak’s head. It also is true that people familiar with Isak’s thinking say that none of this should be a surprise to Newcastle and that they were told repeatedly that last season would be the player’s final one at St James’ Park, that he wished to move to a club where he could win the biggest trophies. It is true that some are saying there is no turning back
I keep seeing people say Newcastle selling Isak for £150m would give them £450m in PSR room. How does that work? The regulations are too boring for me to research
If we're not signing a replacement for Diaz I reckon we'll see a good bit of Szoboslai there as a tucked-in inside forward. He played there loads for Leipzig and the extra space could be great for him
Fofana looks very talented but he's absolutely miles off Rodrygo. I think he'd probably be more of a Chiesa replacement as the 5th/6th option. I think he started less than half of Lyon's games last season
There's absolutely no chance we're spending hundreds of millions on forwards and then destroying our season by leaving ourselves with only 3 CBs. We'll get someone
Yeah, we've set ourselves up very well in that regard, we can afford to do the business we've done, and more. It seems like any sales from here are creating PSR space for next summer's moves
Newcastle have made an absolute balls of this haven't they, no matter what happens now. They'll either force him to stay and be left with an unhappy player or they'll let him go and have to sign a centre-forward after all the top players on the market have already signed for other teams. David and Osimhen would have been excellent replacements for them but now they'll probably have to pay more for Sesko who's a bigger risk.
It just shows you can't really operate properly in modern football without a director of football
