Wirtz on the left? Interesting to see Robertson starting, I wonder if he'll also play against City. -

Re Wirtz, interesting that he was brought on instead for Hugo, its like Slot gave him a pass of sorts. I thought he might have come on for Macca. He (Wirtz) needs to work harder, he had that great moment where he won the ball back, beat a couple and then knocked it straight out of play. I expect he might be on the bench for a bit till he adapts to the physicality of the league. -

That was better. More control, better in possession, still a bit open on transition. But 3 points and a clean sheet! Big week ahead. -

Mo is still too wide for me, Bradley is not overlapping at all. -

Too much space in front of our defence, beat the press and they're through. -

We can't keep expecting Grav to cover that whole area, Macca or Dom have to drop back -

I hope Macca has remembered how to run and pass. -
Agree, it's frustrating, he's clearly changed our tactical setup and it's not working. I know there are other factors, but currently, I think it's mostly on him.
-
Apologies if this has already been shared - but I thought this was interesting: It was the point re Salah and Gakpo being so wide that really struck me, which combined with pushing up Wirtz alongside our CF, the balance is completely out. Salah is in poor form, but our new structure has him so wide that it's making the whole situation even worse.

It can definitely be read in that way, but I think he's talking about the number of injuries we have. If not....there'll be trouble ahead and may be sooner than anyone expects. -
Agree re Edwards, if anything it's on Slot and Hughes. They're meant to be a team of sorts.
-
There were multiple times when Klopp surprised us all with his selections, but he generally got something out of the kids and or fringe players. Granted, the teams weren't quite as inexperienced as tonight but our tactical setup had more bite. I was hoping we might see a better structure this evening but that seemed pretty lacking. Lots of potential reasons for that, let's see what happens against Villa.

The only good thing about that is it makes me think that Robbo will be starting against Villa. -
Diaz was different, he had more variety to his game but often lacked end product (that was routinely mentioned about him). I think we're missing that and work rate, but it's being exacerbated by the collective drop off from our (other) forwards and a midfield that lacks balance.
-
With Dom I thought it was the opposite started really brightly and then fell away. There were lots of Gerrard comparisons at the beginning, had a significant dip and then came back. As has been said already already, my issue is the lack of physicality, he presses but it often has little effect, he also has a terrible habit of giving the ball away when under no pressure. I think he'll come good but only if he gets stronger on and off the ball.
-
Re Iraola, expectations are lower but he also has a set approach, he demands high intensity, they press very well. As we know, if well executed it can help mask weaknesses. We aren't doing that anywhere near as effectively as we used to.
-
Agree, I was thinking as a sub but slightly earlier in games rather than the last few mins, wouldn't be right for him to start in the PL considering our current situation.
-
I know he's young and not the answer but I'd like to see more of Rio, he offers something different to Cody, runs at players, takes them on. Cody seems to default to cutting in and shooting / crossing with his right. It's become too predictable.
-
I think they (Slot & Hughes) over estimated Wirtz ability to press and recover possession. I expect they also thought he would use the ball better, he can be very wasteful. I think they thought he'd be a more technical Szobozlai. Questions also need to be asked about the positioning of our CMs, they routinely both push too high up the pitch. This when combined with a poor press leaves the defence exposed and having to make rash decisions. The nature of the way we play always resulted in us giving up some chances but this is currently Rodgers esque on transition.
