  1. Think the lad needs games. His previous loans haven't really worked out, with persistent injuries not helping.
  2. Pearce says in some Athletic mailbag thing that he's going to do his introductory press conference closer to the start of pre-season.
  3. Mubarak says the PL will “lose its competitive edge” thanks to the rules against inflated sponsorship. How many leagues have City won in a row now?
  4. Think he'll get a deal to protect his value and we'll keep him until someone like a PSG comes in for him. No need to sell him and create further transfer headaches right now. Our issue in recent years has been that three of our four core CBs are all injury prone. Get in a sturdy replacement for Matip and things won't look so bad.
  5. If anyone has the stats for distance covered per 90 and sprints per 90, we can get to the bottom of whether Konate’s double role is the root of his injuries or not. I suspect not, given his history at Leipzig, and that our midfielders, full-backs and forwards cover more ground than him.
  6. I’m looking forward to watching Szoboszlai in his more attacking role for Hungary. Have the feeling we’re gonna see him further forward this season.
  7. The stupidity is the thing. He was a really good player and while that’s not a guarantee of intelligence, I can’t get over what a don’t-think-just-talk idiot he is.
  8. It’s almost as if it’s not even about having an honest debate on the new coach and club structure, but more about attention seeking.
  9. After the vote but before the exit, meant I could marry my then-GF (also a non-EU citizen) and squeeze us through the door before it slammed shut.
  10. Haha nah, that’s a cable car. Was a regional train that derailed and rolled down an embankment. I actually drive something similar to the train that was in the accident.
  11. Ahh right. I’ve been in Berlin six years now, slowly losing my mind as everyone living here seems to at some point or another.
  12. Never actually been down that way. All I know is that the Zugspitze is big and that there was a train wreck in Garmisch-Parteikirchen a couple of years back (no jokes at Scotland's expense intended). You in Wiesbaden then? Was there a couple of months back for a gig at the Schlachthof, really nice town. I read Klopp is building a house in the area too.
  13. I don't know if any teams are going to be based in Berlin itself, although I read yesterday that Croatia are going to be in nearby Neuruppin. Edit: Seems Austria will be in Berlin.
  14. Mourinho off to Fenerbahce.
  15. Just read that Colwill’s dad is an LFC fan. Had no idea. Tap up more southern lads with reds supporting dads.
  16. On Konate and this PSG link, L'Équipe also says that we've been in discussions with Konate over a new contract and the player is happy at the club: https://www.getfootballnewsfrance.com/2024/psg-sound-out-move-for-liverpools-ibrahima-konate/
  17. LFC have placed a valuation of 20m on Sepp van den Berg, insist the stories that Mainz has an option to buy him for 4.3m aren't true. Club says the valuation falls in line with a player of his age and profile, and that he ranked high in the BL last season across a number of defensive metrics. Apparently Wolfsburg and a couple of PL clubs are interested but no decision on his future will be made until Slot has assessed him during preseason. Sounds like we're getting back to Mikey E squeezing as much blood out of stones as he can. Wonder if Bournemouth's sporting director is looking for a young CB.
  18. Very curious to see what becomes of RG at LFC this season. Bit lazy to assume that, because they're both Dutch, Slot will be keen to work with and have a plan for him. And if Slot does institute a 4-2-3-1 as the default formation, Grav finds himself in a similar situation to what he faced at Bayern (although I think Tuchel's thing was that he wanted more exclusively defensive players at the base of midfield, which might not be the case with Slot). There were signs towards the end of last season that Gravenberch was starting to get that he couldn't be a wallflower in the PL, that he had to up his intensity, but it's also telling that he never really gets mentioned when people discuss how LFC could line up under Slot. No idea if it works out for him, but he's not without talent, so it's down to the player to earn his place in the team/squad long term. Really hoping he develops as Klopp believed/hoped he could.
  19. Anyone got any ideas on which winger we're going to go for this summer? Ornstein has said a couple of times that we'll be in the market for a winger and we got linked with Bakayoko from PSV again this week. Summerville at Leeds has also been mentioned, although that might be lazy reporting based on his existing relationship with Slot. Is there anyone out there that jumps out? The best lads in the PL who look ready to make a step up, Olise and Neto, both seem to be sicknotes, so I'm a bit wary of them, as good as they are when fit. One left-field shout and potential non-starter is Rodrygo at Madrid. He's turned us down once before, while he was at Santos, and seems not to want to leave Madrid, but the club is bringing in Mbappe and Endrick and has Arda Guler fit now, so he might get squeezed out if someone is willing to pony up the big bucks.
  20. Yeah, that's what jumped out at me from the interview. It's like we signed Nunez, it screwed up the team's chemistry (not helped by fading legs in midfield), and then we signed Gakpo to try to fix it.
  21. Ask Klopp, it's his culture.
  22. I've never eaten it, but when I see it in shops here I always think it looks like the worst.
  23. Leberkäse you say? Mmm lecker
  24. Loan him to Atleti where he can fulfil his destiny of becoming the next Diego Forlan and then they pay us top dollar for him at the end of next season.
  25. He’ll definitely have one or two 30-40 goal seasons in his career. The question is whether you put up with the years he’s only converting a small fraction of his chances.
